Nutrisca Dry Dog Food Recalled For Possible Salmonella

Tuffy’s Pet Foods of Minnesota is recalling some lots of Nutrisca dry dog food because it may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses in people or animals have been reported to date.

Nutrisca Pet Food Salmonella RecallThe recalled product is 4 pound bags of Nutrisca Chicken and Chick Pea Dry Dog Food with UPC number 8 84244 12495 7 found on the lower back of the bag. Products included in the recall have these first five digits of lot codes: 4G29P, 4G31P, 4H01P, 4H04P, 4H05P, and 4H06P, and these best by dates: Jul 28 16, Jul 30 16, Jul 31 16, Aug 03 16, Aug 04 16, and Aug 05 16. They were distributed nationwide through brokers and retail stores and through the internet.

Animals with Salmonella infections may not show any symptoms but may be carriers and pass the bacteria to people. Animals may show the following symptoms: lethargic, diarrhea, which may be bloody, abdominal cramps, and fever. Decreased appetite is also a symptom of a Salmonella infection. If your dog ate the recalled products and has experienced symptoms, see your veterinarian as soon as possible.

If you purchased this product, stop feeding it immediately. Throw it away in a double bag or sealed container so other animals can’t get at it, or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
