Anchovies Recalled in Canada for Undeclared Sesame

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Uncle Bill Trading Inc. are recalling anchovies from the marketplace because they contain sesame, a food allergen, that is not declared on the label. Canada considers sesame an allergen, while the United States does not.

Recall SignThe recalled product is Uncle Bill Spicy Crispy Anchovies with Sesame sold in 227 gram containers. The code on the product is A2323115 and the UPC number is 7 70162 02190 7. The product was sold in Ontario at the retail level.

There is no word on whether or not any illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date. If you purchased this product and are allergic to sesame, do not eat it. You can throw the product away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
