Carolyn’s Cookie Refrigerated and Frozen Cookie Dough Recalled For Nuts

California New Foods is recalling Carolyn’s Cookie and Country Baking Company frozen and refrigerated cookie dough sold in California because there is no labeling on the products that says they can contain peanut and walnut allergens. Peanuts and tree nuts are two of the major food allergens. Anyone who is allergic to those ingredients could have a serious reaction if they eat this product. A consumer complaint triggered this recall.

The recalled products are not in production and are not available in stores at this time. But consumers may have these products in their home. You can see pictures of the recalled products at the FDA web site.

The recalled products are: Carolyn’s Cookie frozen cookie dough in these flavors: Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Chocolate Chip Toasted Walnut, Double Chocolate with Sea Salt, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk and Snickerdoodle. These doughs were sold in a 22 ounce plastic pouch. All date codes beginning September 12, 2019 through March 29, 2020 are recalled.

Also recalled are Country Baking Company refrigerated cookie dough in Chocolate Chip and Happy Trails flavors. They are packaged in 24 ounce see-through cardboard sleeves. The date codes that are recalled for these products are September 18, 2019 through September 25, 2019.

If you purchased either of these products and are allergic to peanuts and/or tree nuts, do not eat them. Discard them or take them back to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.

The symptoms of allergic reactions can range from mild to life-threatening. Early symptoms include tingling of the mouth, tongue, and lips, itching, and hives. More serious symptoms can include swelling of the face, mouth, lips, and tongue, difficulty breathing, wheezing, and abdominal pain. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should see a doctor.
