Whole Foods Recalls Bleating Heart Cheese for Listeria

Whole Foods Market is recalling cheese sold in Arizona, California, and Hawaii that came from its supplier Bleating Heart cheese because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The recalled cheese was cut and packaged in clear plastic wrap at Whole Foods stores and sold with Whole Foods Market scale labels. No illnesses or infections have been reported to date. John B. Sanfilippo & Son is recalling Fisher Chopped Walnuts and Fisher Pecan Cookie Pieces because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No reports of illnesses have been received to date in connection with the consumption of these products. The products are Fisher Chopped Walnuts in 8 ounce packages with various UPC numbers and best by dates, and Pecan Cookie Pieces in 8 ounce sizes with various UPC numbers and best by dates. Garcia Foods of Texas is recalling 190,450 pounds of pork products for misbranding and undeclared allergens. These products may contain peanuts, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. Anyone with an allergy to peanuts could have a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. Alpineaire Spicy Sausage Pasta Recalled for Misbranding

Katadyn North American Foods of California is recalling 2,719 pounds of spicy sausage products for misbranding. The label indicates that the product contains beef, but it is actually made with pork sausage. Pork is not indicated on the label. The problem was discovered by FSIS inspection personnel during a label review. There have been no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. The recalled product is Spicy Sausage Pasta in 5 ounce foil laminated pouches labeled "Alpineaire Spicy Sausage Pasta." It has the establishment number "EST. 8132" inside the USDA mark of inspection. Attorney Fred Pritzker and his Bad Bug Law Team® are investigating the Listeria outbreak linked to caramel apples that has so far has sickened 28 people in 10 states: Arizona (4), California (1), Minnesota (4), Missouri (5), New Mexico (5), North Carolina (1), Texas (4), Utah (1), Washington (1), and Wisconsin (2). "At this stage of the investigation, it is absolutely essential to know the chain of distribution for this product," said attorney Pritzker. "We need to find out where these products were processed and sold and the point along the chain of distribution where the contamination occurred.
