A multistate Salmonella outbreak has triggered a recall of Chapel Hill Creamery Cheeses sold at retail locations, farmer’s markets and restaurants throughout North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them as Salmonella can cause serious illness. The recalled cheeses include: Quark, Danziger, Swiss, Paneer, Calvander, Hot Farmers Cheese, Dairyland Farmers Cheese, Smoked Mozzarella, Fresh Mozzarella, Burrata, Hickory Grove, Carolina Moon, Smoked Farmers Cheese, New Moon and Pheta. Symptoms of a Salmonella infection, which usually appear between six and 72 hours after exposure, include nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea that can be bloody.
