This week's food recalls include a massive recall of frozen vegetables for Listeria, lots of snack items containing sunflower seeds recalled for Listeria and other products recalled for undeclared allergens. Food Recalls in the U.S. Pathogens Frozen vegetables under recall after being linked to a Listeria outbreak were sold at Walmart, Costco, Trader Joe's, Safeway, Meijer and other stores, according to information posted on company websites. The frozen vegetables were produced by CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington. On May 2, the company issued a recall for 358 consumer products sold under 42 separate brands since 2014. Pita Pal Salads Listeria Recall
Pita Pal salads are being recalled for possible Listeria contamination. The recalled salads contain corn produced by CRF Foods which has been linked to an outbreak. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them as Listeria can cause listeriosis and infection that causes serious illness or death. At the time of the recall no illnesses had been linked to Pita Pal salads, the company said. However, symptoms of a Listeria infection can take as long as 70 days to develop. They include: nausea and diarrhea followed by fever, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and muscle aches. CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington has issued a recall for frozen vegetables that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them as Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Those most at risk of Listeria infections are young children, pregnant women, seniors and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of listeriosis include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
