Listeria Recall for Vegetables Sold at Walmart, Winn Dixie, QuickTrip and More

A Listeria recall has been issued for fresh-cut vegetables sold at Walmart, Winn Dixie, QuickTrip, Spinx, Freshpoint, Bi-lo, Harris Teeter and Publix. Consumers who have recently purchased fresh-cut vegetables from these stores should check recall information carefully. At the time of the recall, no illnesses had been reported, however, products covered by the recall should not be consumed as Listeria can cause serious illness or death. Country Fresh of Conroe, Texas, issued the recall of  30,000 cases of various vegetable products after being notified that tests conducted by the Georgia Department of Agriculture as part of a routine sampling program were positive for Listeria. ConAgra Foods is expanding the recall of Watts Brothers Farms Organic Mixed Vegetables, Organic Super Sweet Corn (Yellow/Gold), and Organic Peas that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them. The recalled products were produced on May 5, 2016 and have not been available for purchase since this date. HelloFresh of New York, N.Y. is recalling frozen peas that may be contaminated with Listeria. The recall was issued after the company was notified by a supplier that the peas may be contaminated. There are so many Listeria recalls right now it’s hard to keep up. Two potentially contaminated food sources – frozen vegetables and sunflower seeds – have spawned numerous recalls. To help consumers stay up-to-date, Food Poisoning Bulletin has organized the recalls by retailer. Consumers who shop at these stores should check the list of recalls carefully as Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Frozen vegetables produced by CRF Frozen Foods and sold under a variety of brand names have been linked to a Listeria outbreak that has sickened at least eight people in three states. CDC Weighs in on CRF Frozen Vegetable Listeria Outbreak

Listeria in frozen vegetables produced by CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington has sickened at least eight people in three states since September 2013, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). All eight people were hospitalized and two people died, although listeriosis was not considered to be the cause of death for either of them, the CDC said. Epidemiologic and laboratory investigations show frozen vegetables produced by CRF and sold under various brand names are a likely source of this outbreak.  The company has issued a recall for 358 consumer products sold under 42 separate brands.
