La Boulange Recalls Caramel Jams for Undeclared Allergen

La Boulange Café & Bakery is recalling soft caramel jams that may have been mislabeled. The recalled product,  Soft Caramel Jams in 8.4 oz. jars with lot number 822713, was sold exclusively in 20 La Boulange Café & Bakery stores in the San Francisco Bay Area. There have been no reported illnesses.

Listeria Monocytogenes RecallThe recall was initiated after the company discovered that jars labeled as Soft Caramel Jams were inadvertently filled with Hazelnut Jam, and therefore contain an undeclared nut allergen, hazelnut. Those allergic to hazelnut could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this product. For those who are not allergis, there is no safety issue.

The recall includes Soft Caramel Jam products sold from August 15, 2013 to November 11, 2013 with lot number 822713 on a white label on the bottom of the container. No other La Boulange Café & Bakery branded products are affected by this recall.
