Wegmans Recalls Baked Desserts on Listeria Fears

Wegmans Food Markets Inc. of Rochester, NY is recalling in-store baked desserts containing fresh peaches, nectarines, and plums that may be contaminated with Listeria.  The fruit was supplied by California-based Wawona Packing Company which has recalled the produce. No illnesses have been reported at this time.

Recall SignageConsumers who have purchased the recalled products should not eat them as Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious illness and death. Children, seniors, pregnant women and others with compromised immune systems are most at risk. Among pregnant women, Listeria infections can cause miscarriage or stillbirth.

The recalled products were sold in Wegmans stores from June 1 to July 20. The recalled pies and cakes are as follows: Peach Melba Whipped Cream, 34 oz. UPC 7789033104, Fruit-Topped Short Cake, 1/4 sheet, 49 oz. UPC 7789032772, Genoise Cake,1/4 sheet, 64 oz. UPC 7789027385, Fruit-Topped Cheese Cake, large, 54 oz. UPC 7789026438, Fruit-Topped Cheese Cake, small, 18 oz. UPC 7789026441 and Fruit-Topped Cream Cheese Pie 40 oz. UPC 7789018953.
