La Guadalupana Tamales Recalled for Undeclared Egg White

La Guadalupana Wholesale in Chicago is recalling Hot Chicken, Hot Pork and Salsa Verde Vegan tamales for undeclared egg white. Consumers with egg allergies should not eat these products as they risk severe reaction if they do. The recalled products were sold throughout the Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana between January 16, 2015 and April 8, 2015. The problem was caused when a supplier sent a different corn starch, one that contained egg white, and it was used to make La Guadalupana’s Salsa Verde Sauce. La Guadalupana Chicken Tamales Recalled

La Guadalupana Wholesale Inc. of  Chicago is recalling approximately 8,856 pounds of chicken tamales because they produced at a plant where proper food safety rules were not in place. The company did not have a fully implemented Ready-To-Eat (RTE) Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan; a Listeria monocytogenes (Lm) program or a hazard analysis, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The recalled products include 2 packs of 6 tamales in each vacuum-packed bags marked  “LA GUADALUPANA CHICKEN TAMALES.”  The establishment number “P-21094” is inside the USDA mark of inspection with packaging dates ranging from Nov. 19, 2014 through Jan. 4, 2015.
