Some pets may experience  a decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Others may show no sign of illness can be carriers and infect other animals or humans.  If your pet has eaten any of the affected products the FDA advises scheduling a visit with your veterinarian.

It’s important to note that humans can contact a Salmonella infection from handling the treats or by touching  a surface that a tainted treat has touched.  Washing hands after feeding your pet is the best way to avoid illness. Salmonella symptoms in humans include nausea, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever.
