Top Nosh Farmer’s Market Pies Recalled for Undeclared Allergens

Piccadilly Fine Foods of California is recalling 79 pounds of chicken and yam pies because they may contain a curry paste that was made with shrimp, one of the major food allergens. Shrimp was not declared as an ingredient on the food label. The recalled products are shipping cases with 24 "Top Nosh Farmer's Market Chicken and Yam with Coconut Curry Pies", and individual 5.5 ounce "Top Nosh Farmer's Market Chicken and Yam with Coconut Curry Pies." Each package has the establishment number "P-9216" on the USDA mark of inspection. And each package has the lot code 184-12. Spillson’s Recalls Texas BBQ Beef Sandwiches for Undeclared Soy and Wheat

Spillson's LTD is recalling Texas BBQ Beef Sandwiches because they contain undeclared soy flour and wheat flour. Anyone with an allergy to those foods may develop a serious or life threatening reaction if they eat the sandwiches. The 4 ounce sandwiches were sold in Monroe, Michigan at convenience stores. They have a best by date between July 20, 2012 and August 3, 2012. The sandwiches are wrapped in clear plastic with a white label located on the front of the sandwich. Cass-Clay Creamery Recalls Ice Cream for Undeclared Allergens

Cass-Clay Creamery of North Dakota is recalling some varieties of ice cream because they may contain undeclared Brazil nuts, peanut oil, and soy lecithin. NIH Study Finds Children With Allergies Have Frequent Reactions

A new study conducted at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, part of the Consortium of Food Allergy Research at the National Institute of Health (NIH), has found that young children with milk or egg allergies have reactions more often than expected. The research team followed 512 infants, ages 3 to 15 months, for three years. The children in the study had a previous allergic reaction to milk or eggs, or were thought to be allergic to those foods based on positive skin tests. At the beginning of the study, caregivers were given strategies for avoiding milk and egg products, and written emergency plans with epinephrine prescriptions. Cass-Clay Creamery of North Dakota is recalling Hornbacher's Peppermint Bon Bon ice cream for undeclared eggs, one of the major food allergens. The recalled Cass-Clay products include the following: Hornbacher's Peppermint Bon Bon Light (Half gallon/1.89 liter), Schroeder Pepppermint Bon Bon (1.75 quart/1.65 liter) and SunnyBrook Peppermint Bon Bon Light (Half gallon/1.89 liter). Fruiti Pops Inc. is recalling 178 dozen Fruiti Pops because they may contain egg yolk, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. The recalled product is Fruit Pops Classic Coconut Frozen Dessert in the 4 ounce size. The recalled fruit pops were distributed in Southern California and sold by push cart vendors and ice cream trucks.  They were distributed between June 25, 2012 and June 28, 2012. The packaging on the pops is clear polypropylene packaging.  It is not labeled with lot numbers or expiration dates.  The UPC number, 763734 000011, is on the back of the wrapper.
