Seng Ong Wholesale Recalling Uneviscerated Dried Fish

Seng Ong Wholesale, Inc. of St. Paul, Minnesota is recalling dried mackerel and dried round scad after the Minnesota Department of Agriculture discovered the product was not properly eviscerated. Gills were still present in the finished product. This product can be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum spores, which can cause botulism, a very serious and possibly fatal foodborne illness. Those spores are more likely to be concentrated in the viscera than any other part of the fish. Symptoms of botulism poisoning include blurred or double vision, poor reflexes, general weakness, difficulty swallowing, and respiratory paralysis. Spinach Quiches Recalled in Canada

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency, along with Whole Foods Market Inc. is recalling a specific quiche because of a labeling error. The quiches are labeled Spinach Mushroom when they are actually Spinach Pine Nut. The quiche contains pine nuts, a tree nut, which is one of the major allergens, and that fact is not declared on the label. Officials Investigating Death: May be Linked to Recalled Shrimp

On March 3, 2012, Martin's Super Markets voluntarily recalled frozen shrimp. The notice did not mention the reason for the recall. Product details: Harvest of the Sea brand Quick and Fit Raw, Tail On, Peeled and Cleaned Frozen Shrimp 21-25 count 16-ounce packages UPC number 72087-01121 Four days later, Harvest of the Sea issued a statement saying they had "no plans to issue a recall for any Harvest of the Sea shrimp products sold at the Martin's Super Market chain. The FDA considers this matter closed." That same day, the FDA informed Martin's Super Markets that the shrimp pulled from shelves is safe for consumption.
