The Salmonella outbreak associated with the Holiday Inn Bordeaux in Cumberland County, North Carolina has grown from 18 to 44 patients. Thirty-six people in this outbreak live in North Carolina, and eight people are out of state. Five people have been hospitalized. The Health Department and the North Carolina Division of Public Health are asking anyone who ate at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux in Fayetteville since May 1 and became sick to call the county Health Department at 910-433-3638. Holiday Inn Linked to Salmonella Food Poisoning Outbreak, Investigation of Fayetteville, NC, Hotel Restaurants Continues
The Cumberland County Department of Public Health,the N.C.Division of Public Health, and lawyers are continuing their investigation of the Salmonella outbreak linked to restaurants at the Holiday Inn Fayetteville-Bordeaux. There are 18 individuals with signs and symptoms of a Salmonella infection, including nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Four of them are hospitalized. Salmonella can cause serious complications, including reactive arthritis, colitis, meningitis (Salmonella in the brain), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and sepsis. The Cumberland County Department of Public Health in North Carolina has announced a Salmonella outbreak among staff and patrons of the Holiday Inn Bordeaux in Fayetteville. The hotel has two restaurants: the All American Sports Bar and Grill and the Cafe Bordeaux. The facility also has a banquet kitchen. Cumberland County Health Department Director Buck Wilson said, "we are actively working with the hotel and restaurant management and with state officials to resolve this as soon as possible." The management of the hotel is fully cooperating with local and state authorities. There are two confirmed cases of Salmonella infections. One person has been hospitalized.
