Apple Slices Recalled for Listeria Distributed to Florida’s Palm Beach County School District

Apple slices recalled for Listeria may have been distributed to schools in Florida’s Palm Beach County School District. The 2 oz-bags of Snack Fresh brand red apple slices , which were also sold at Burger King location, were recalled by Appeeling Fruit Inc. in Dauberville, Penn. on September 9. The recalled products have a "Best-if-Used-by date" 09/21/15, the UPC number 74641 00982 and 3 the production date 310815 . Illnesses had not been reported at the time of the recall. But Listeria symptoms can take as long as 70 days after exposure to develop. The Palm Beach County School District and individual schools were notified on September 9th of the recall. Of the 400 cases that were delivered to the district, 360 were retrieved and destroyed. Giant Eagle Recalls Apple Pistachio Chicken Salad for Listeria

Giant Eagle is recalling Giant Eagle Apple Pistachio Salad and Apple Pistachio Salad with Chicken because the salads may contain fresh cut Gala red apples recalled by Del Monte Fresh Produce for potential Listeria contamination.  Giant Eagle had received no reports of illnesses associated with the salads at the time of the recall. But customers who have purchased the salads should not eat them as Listeria can cause serious, life-threatening illness. Symptoms of a Listeria infection include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria Prompts Del Monte Apple Slices Recall

Del Monte is recalling fresh cut fruit containing Gala red apples for possible Listeria contamination. Customers who have purchased these products should not eat them as Listeria can cause seriou, life-threatening illness. The recalled products include apple slices, apple slices with dip, apples with cheese, snack packs, pineapple medley, apples with grapes and cheese, apples with yogurt, gourmet fruit bowl, apples/carrots/cheese with dip and harvest blend. They were distributed to Giant Eagle, Amazon Fresh, Sunoco, Peter’s Fruit, Wegmans, Sheetz and 7-Eleven and have “Best If Enjoyed By” dates of 12/3/14, 12/6/14, 12/7/14 and 12/8/14.
