Wellpet LLC Recalls Dry Dog Food for Possible Salmonella

Wellpet LLC is recalling one recipe of Wellness® dry dog food after Diamond Pet Foods notified the company that there was Salmonella bacteria in Diamond's Gaston, South Carolina facility. Kirkland Signature Dry Dog and Cat Foods Recalled for Possible Salmonella

Kirkland Signature products are included in the Diamond Pet Foods recall for possible Salmonella contamination. Cat foods are included in this recall. There are only a certain number of batches of these pet foods included in the recall. To determine if the pet food you purchased is included in this recall, check production codes on the back of the bags. Diamond Pet Foods is expanding their recall of dry dog food to include nine different brands. These products have been linked to a human Salmonella Infantis outbreak in nine states. Canidae Pet Foods is voluntarily recalling some of its dry dog food because it was manufactured at the Diamond Pet Foods plant in South Carolina. Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Recalled Dry Dog Food

The CDC announced that 14 people in 9 states have been infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Infantis linked to recalled dry dog food made by Diamond Pet Foods. Five people have been hospitalized; no deaths have been reported. The case count is: Alabama (1) Connecticut (1) Michigan (1) Missouri (3) North Carolina (3) New Jersey (1) Ohio (2) Pennsylvania (1) Virginia (1) The dog food in question was manufactured at a single plant in South Carolina. Diamond Pet Foods Expands Dog Food Recall Again

Diamond Pet Foods is expanding a voluntary recall to include Diamond Puppy Formula dry dog food. Salmonella was found in the product. No dog illnesses have been reported. Human beings who handle the food may be exposed to the bacteria. Salmonella causes nausea, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramps. Long term effects of this illness include arthritis, urinary tract problems, hypertension, and heart disease. Some pets will only have decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain, but some dogs can be carriers of the bacteria with no symptoms. The company requests that anyone who has fed these products to their animals with those symptoms take them to a veterinarian for tests.
