The products under recall are 8 oz and 1 lb containers with a code EXP 1-31-13. Consumers who have purchased this product should not eat it. The product was produced December 3, 2012, by GoldCoast Salads based in Naples, Fla. and distributed to stores in the northeastern and southeastern part of the United States. Listeria monocytogenes is a pathogen that can cause serious, sometimes fatal injury. About 90 percent of people who develop Listeria infections, called listeriosis, are hospitalized. Sam’s Club Smoked Salmon Listeria Recall Expands
Listeria concerns have prompted a recall expansion of smoked salmon products sold at Sam’s Club, other stores and food service companies nationwide. Delifish expanded the recall, originally announced December 31, to include all products made during the same time period as the product that originally tested positive for Listeria during routine testing. There have been no other positive tests for the bacteria. Delifish is expanding the recall as a precautionary measure as Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal illness.
