A MD E. coli O157:H7 outbreak may be linked to Ready Pac Bistro® Bowl Chicken Caesar Salad that was purchased from several Sam's Club locations in that state, according to the Maryland Health Department. Seven people are sick. One person has been hospitalized and no deaths have been reported. The health department is recommending the consumers not eat Ready Pac Bistro® Bowl Chicken Caesar Salad. The lot number on the product is 255406963, and the best by date is October 31, 2019. Officials tested unopened salad purchased by one of the patients, and found E. coli O157 in the romaine lettuce used in the salad. Lawsuit: Bakery Supplier to Whole Foods, Kroger, Sam’s Club, Sysco and More Faked E. coli, Listeria Tests
A bakery supplier to Whole Foods, Kroger, Sam's Club, Sysco, Rich Products, and US Foodservice has been falsifying tests for Listeria and E. coli documents for more than a year, according to a lawsuit filed by whisteblowing employees. Orange Bakery Inc. of Irvine, California had previously employed a third-party lab, Silliker Inc., to test for bacteria. Before severing ties with the lab some time before January 1, 2015, Orange obtained blank testing forms which it then forged to show negative results for Listeria and E. coli, the lawsuit alleges. Orange sells raw dough for bakery products to clients who cover every part of the country. We have received quite a few responses to the story about the recall of fruit from Sam's Club, Costco, and Trader Joe's stores for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. It's difficult to hear about this story, especially if you have already consumed the fruit and fed it to your family. Here's what to do. First, make sure you actually bought the recalled fruit. The FDA has published the Wawona Packing List that contains all of the fruit with lot and BlockID numbers. You can also see all the pictures of the packaging and crates with the UPC numbers and product sizes at the FDA web site. Sam's Club is recalling Blue Crab Spread made by GoldCoast Salads for possible contamination with Listeria moncytogenes. The products under recall are 8 oz and 1 lb containers with a code EXP 1-31-13. Consumers who have purchased this product should not eat it. The product was produced December 3, 2012, by GoldCoast Salads based in Naples, Fla. and distributed to stores in the northeastern and southeastern part of the United States. Listeria monocytogenes is a pathogen that can cause serious, sometimes fatal injury. About 90 percent of people who develop Listeria infections, called listeriosis, are hospitalized. Sam’s Club Smoked Salmon Listeria Recall Expands
Listeria concerns have prompted a recall expansion of smoked salmon products sold at Sam’s Club, other stores and food service companies nationwide. Delifish expanded the recall, originally announced December 31, to include all products made during the same time period as the product that originally tested positive for Listeria during routine testing. There have been no other positive tests for the bacteria. Delifish is expanding the recall as a precautionary measure as Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal illness.
