America’s Best Cumin Powder Recalled for Undeclared Peanut

America’s Best brand “(Jeera) Cumin Powder” is being recalled for undeclared cumin. Consumers who are allergic or have a sensitivity to peanuts should not use this product as they risk a severe or life-threatening allergic reaction if they do. No illnesses had been reported at the time of the recall. The recalled product was packaged and distributed by Patel Grocery located at 5303 4th Ave in Brooklyn. The  “(Jeera) Cumin Powder” was packaged in an uncoded, 14 oz (400 gm) plastic bag. Maya Cumin Powder Recalled for Undeclared Peanut

Maya Overseas Food Inc. of Maspeth, NY  is recalling its 7- ounce packages of cumin powder because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People with allergies to peanuts should not eat this product as they run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they do. The recalled product was distributed at retail stores in NY, CT, NJ, MA, PA and VA in retail stores. It was sold in  7 ounce, clear plastic packages with  no codes. At the time of the recall, no illnesses had reported, according to the manufacturer. The problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes. Trader Joe’s Recalls Cinnamon Almonds for Undeclared Peanut

Trader Joe’s  is recalling all lots Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Almonds sold in 16 0z packages because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts should not eat this product as they run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they do. The recalled products were distributed nationwide in Trader Joe’s retail stores. They were packaged in clear plastic with the UPC # 00761437 on the back of the package. The recall was initiated after peanuts were discovered in packages of Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Almonds. The problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the supplier’s production and packaging processes. Talenti Sea Salt Caramel Gelato is being recalled for undeclared peanut. Consumers with peanut allergies or severe sensitivities should not eat this product as they risk serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they do. The recalled product was distributed in one pint (473 mL) clear plastic jars with the UPC 8685200024 located on the side and best by date 05/19/2016 located on the bottom. No other best by dates or sizes of Sea Salt Caramel Gelato are affected by the recall, nor are other flavors. The product was distributed nationwide to retail stores. WhiteWave Foods of Broomfield, CO.  is recalling 7.5 oz packages of Horizon Cheddar Sandwich Crackers because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have an allergy or sensitivity to peanuts should not eat this product as they run the risk of serious or life- threatening allergic reaction if they do.  At the time the recall was announced, no illnesses or adverse reaction had been reported. The problem is attributed to an inadvertent packaging error. The outer package is labeled as a cheddar sandwich cracker and the inner package contains the peanut butter sandwich crackers. Peanut Allergy? Avoid Cumin For Now, FDA Advises

Shipments of cumin contaminated with undeclared peanut have triggered so many product recalls, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is advising people with peanut allergies or severe sensitivities to avoid the spice for the time being as they are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction. For those affected by the advisory, products to avoid include ground cumin sold as a spice, or in spice mixes, dinner kits-particularly for Indian of Tex Mex foods; marinades for meat and poultry and finished food products such as soups and chilies. Products made before 2014 are unlikely to contain the affected ground cumin. Undeclared Peanut in Chili Seasoning Sparks Lawsuit

A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a Texas woman with a severe peanut allergy who suffered a serious allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock) after eating chili spice mix that contained undeclared peanut. The lawsuit, which names Reily Food Co. of New Orleans as defendant, was filed in district court in Montgomery County, Texas. In November 2014,  Jillian Neal ate chili made with chili spice mix from Reily Foods which did not list nuts of any kind as in ingredient and soon became violently ill, according to the complaint. Hatfield Pork Ribs Recalled for Undeclared Peanut

Clemens Food Group of Hatfield, Pa. is recalling Hatfield Smokey Chipotle Dry Rub Seasoned St. Louis Style Ribs for undeclared peanut. Consumers with an allergy to peanut should not eat this product as they risk serious reaction if they do. The recalled products were sold in 20-lb. cases with code #4109 containing 6 individually wrapped and labeled packages with code 354. The establishment number “EST. 791” is inside the USDA mark of inspection. The recalled products were distributed in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
