Whole Foods Market is recalling Trois Comtois Morbier cheese for possible Listeria contamination. The recalled cheese was sold in the Mid Atlantic, Southwest, Northern California, Southern Pacific and Midwest regions. Customers who have purchased this cheese should not eat it. The recalled Trois Comtois Morbier was sold in 11-pound wheels which were then cut and wrapped in varying weights and are labeled with a Whole Foods Market scale label. Whole Foods Recalls Vegan and Chicken Salads for Undeclared Allergens
Whole Foods Market is recalling two kinds of bulk curried salad- chicken and vegan, because they may contain undeclared allergens of egg and soy. Labels for the products were accidentally reversed. The vegan "chick'n" salad contains soy, and the curried chicken salad contains egg. Consumers with egg or soy allergies should not consume these products. No illnesses have been reported in association with this recall. Whole Foods Takes Lead On GMO Labeling
Whole Foods Market has announced that by 2018 all products containing genetically modified ingredients must be labeled so if they are to be sold at its stores in the U.S. and Canada. It is the first American grocery store chain make such a requirement. “We are putting a stake in the ground on GMO labeling to support the consumer’s right to know,” Walter Robb, co-CEO of Whole Foods Market, said in a statement. “The prevalence of GMOs in the U.S. paired with nonexistent mandatory labeling makes it very difficult for retailers to source non-GMO options and for consumers to choose non-GMO products.
