Gretchen’s Shoebox Starbucks Protein Bistro Boxes Peanut Butter Salmonella Recall Expands

Gretchen's Shoebox Express in Seattle Washington is expanding its voluntary recall of Starbucks brand Protein Bistro Box to include more "Enjoy By" dates of 9/28/12 and 9/30/12 - 10/6/12. This is in response to the expansion of Justin's Nut Butter recall of its 0.5 ounce single-serve Honey Peanut Butter squeeze packs. Those packs were made with products from Sunland, Inc. that have been recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. The original recall covered products with "Enjoy By" dates of 9/02/12 to 9/27/12. The recalled product was distributed to Starbucks retail stores in Washington and Oregon from 9/29/2012 to 10/5/2012. Affected products have been removed from the stores. Sunland Expands Salmonella Peanut Butter Recall: All Products Made After March 1, 2010

Sunland has expanded its ongoing recall of nut products for possible Salmonella contamination to include ALL products manufactured in its Peanut Butter Plant after March 1, 2010. The expanded recall adds 139 products, including all previously identified Peanut Butter, Almond Butter, Cashew Butter, and Tahini products, as well as Roasted Blanched Peanut Products. None of the 139 additional products have been associated with any reported illness to date. On September 22, 102, the CDC and the FDA reported that an outbreak of Salmonella Bredeney linked to Trader Joe's Valencia peanut butter, manufactured by Sunland, has sickened 29 people in the United States. Peanut Butter Salmonella Bredeney Outbreak Grows Again

The outbreak of Salmonella Bredeney linked to Trader Joe's Valencia Creamy Peanut Butter has grown to include 35 people in 19 states. Eight people have been hospitalized and there have been no deaths. Sixty-three percent of outbreak victims are children under the age of 10. The case count by state is: Arizona (1), California (5), Connecticut (3), Illinois (1), Louisiana (1), Massachusetts (3), Maryland (1), Michigan (1), Minnesota (1), Missouri (2), Nevada (1), New Jersey (2), New York (1), North Carolina (1), Pennsylvania (2), Rhode Island (1), Texas (5), Virginia (1), and Washington (2). FDA Finds Salmonella in Sunland Inc. Nut Butter Production Facility; Recall Expanded

The Food and Drug Administration has just released a report saying they found Salmonella at the Sunland Inc. nut butter production facility in New Mexico. Products from that plant have been linked to a Salmonella Bredeney outbreak that has sickened at least 35 people in 19 states. The government is conducting more analysis to identify the specific strain of Salmonella found. The recall of Sunland products has been expanded to include all products made in that facility between March 1, 2010 and September 24, 2012. The recall of peanut butter products made with Sunland Inc. ingredients has expanded. There is a Salmonella Bredeney outbreak linked to Trader Joe's Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter. Justin’s Recalls Peanut Butter Products for Possible Salmonella

Justin's has announced a recall of some lots of its peanut butters because they were made with Sunland products that have been recalled for Salmonella. Other Justin's products are not involved in this recall. Fresca Foods in Colorado notified Justin's that Sunland peanuts were used to make their products in the past, so the company is voluntarily participating in the recall. The products recalled are 16 ounce Classic Peanut Butter Jars with UPC number 855188003004 and Best By Date of 8-07-13.
