Magnolia Bird Farm Recalls Sunland Peanuts and Seed Mixes for Possible Salmonella

Magnolia Bird Farm of California is recalling raw and roasted in-shell peanuts and Magnolia Bird Farm Bird seed mixes with peanuts, because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. The peanuts are from Sunland, which has recalled all peanuts and has closed down. You can see the products, sizes, and descriptions of all of the products at the FDA web site. They were distributed from October 12, 2011 to October 12, 2012. Peanuts in the original Sunland yellow mesh bag will have either best by dates from October 12, 2012 through October 12, 2013 on the packaging, or a "Crop Year" marking on the package of 2011 or 2012, up to and including October 12, 2012. New Mexico DoH Updates Salmonella Bredeney Peanut Butter Outbreak; 36 Ill

The New Mexico Department of Health and the CDC have confirmed that a 5-year-old girl in Roosevelt County, New Mexico has contracted the outbreak strain of Salmonella Bredeney linked to Sunland peanut products. The little girl ate many different products containing peanut butter. Food Poisoning Bulletin broke the story of the Smuckers Uncrustables recall for possible Salmonella contamination and the story that those sandwiches were used in the national school lunch program. Some of those products were made with recalled Sunland peanuts. Derivative recalls have been announced almost every day since the outbreak began. Recalls for Products Containing Sunland Peanuts Continue to Grow

The recalls for Sunland peanuts for possible Salmonella contamination continue to grow. Four more recalls were announced today, including one for pet food. One Sunland product, Trader Joe's Valencia peanut butter, is linked to a Salmonella Bredeney outbreak that has sickened at least 35 people in 19 states. Natural Selection Foods is recalling Earthbound Farm Baby Spinach Grab & Go Salad Kits with Peanuts. The product is in a 3.5 ounce clamshell container with UPC number 0-32601-08875-0. More Peanut Recalls Linked to Sunland Products

Three more recalls have been announced linked to Sunland products that have been recalled for possible Salmonella contamination.  Sunland products are the source of a Salmonella Bredeney outbreak that has sickened at least 35 people in 19 states. The FDA found the outbreak strain of that bacteria in environmental samples taken at the Sunland facility and in Trader Joe's Valencia peanut butter. Hines Nut Company is recalling peanuts that were distributed under the Hines or Dollar General Clover Valley label. Three more companies have announced derivative recalls for products made with Sunland peanuts. The products are recalled because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. Sunland Inc. made Trader Joe's Valencia peanut butter, which has been recalled and linked to a Salmonella Bredeney outbreak that has sickened at least 35 people in 19 states.
