Recall of Longo’s Meat Products for E. coli O157:H7 Updated

The food recall warning issued on April 21, 2017 in Canada for possible E. coli O157:H7 in Longo's meat products has been updated to include more products. Now, more than ground veal is being recalled. The products were sold from the Longo Brothers Fruit Market located at 5636 Glen Erin Drive, Mississauga, Ontario. You can see the long list of recalled products, along with the package sizes, codes on the product, and UPC numbers at the CFIA web site. The newly recalled products include Ground Beef, Extra Lean Ground Beef, Medium Ground Beef, All Beef Lean Patties, All Beef Meatballs, and All Beef Meatloaf, among others. Recall of Longo’s Ground Veal for E. coli O157:H7 in Canada

The CFIA and Longo Brothers Fruit Markets are recalling Ontario Lean Ground Veal for possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination. It was sold from the Longo Brothers Fruit Market at 5636 Glen Erin Drive in Mississauga, Ontario. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue. The recalled product is Longo's brand Ontario Lean Ground Veal in various sizes. The code on the product is Best Before 17 AL 19 and the UPC number starts with 203436. Food that is contaminated with E. coli bacteria will not look, smell, or taste spoiled, but it can make you sick, especially if the meat is not cooked to 165°F. Rep. DeLauro Applauds FDA for Closing Dixie Dew Products

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) is applauding the FDA for closing the Dixie Dew Products processing plant, which is the contract manufacturer for The SoyNut Butter Company. I.M. Healthy SoyNut Butter products, made by The SoyNut Butter Company, are linked to an E. coli O157:H7 HUS outbreak that has sickened at least 29 people in 12 states. The FDA's investigations at the plant in Erlanger, Kentucky revealed that food safety violations at that facility go back at least 15 years. Some violations included broken temperature control equipment, an infestation of flies and larva, production machines that have not been cleaned since 2015, and no hot water in hand-washing sinks for the last two years. FDA Shuts Down Dixie Dew Products after E. coli O157:H7 HUS Outbreak

The E. coli O157:H7 outbreak linked to recalled I.M. Healthy SoyNut Butter products has sickened 29 people in 12 states, some very seriously. Nine of those people have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure. And twelve patients have been hospitalized because they are so sick. The question many families are asking is: where did that pathogenic bacteria come from? We now know the answer to that question. The FDA has shut down Dixie Dew Product's food facility registration as of March 27, 2017. That company is located in Erlanger, Kentucky. Yogurt Peanut Crunch Bar Recalled for E. coli O157:H7

Pro Sports Club of Bellevue, Washington is recalling 36,957 Yogurt Peanut Crunch Bars because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date. This recall is being issued because an ingredient used to make the bar was recalled by The Soy Nut Butter Company. Products made by that company are linked to a national E. coli O157:H7 - HUS outbreak. Lawsuits have been filed in that outbreak. The recalled product is 20/20 Life Styles Yogurt Peanut Crunch Bar with lot code B.B. 22JUL17 (means by July 22, 2017), net weight 2 ounces, with UPC number 78571 00052. The Yogurt Peanut Crunch Bar was sold directly to clients at the PRO Sports facilities in Washington  in Bellevue, Redmond and Seattle, between August 8, 2016 and March 10, 2017. Seven People Now Have E. coli at Montessori of Alameda in Oregon

According to the Multnomah County Health Department, seven people have now been sickened by E. coli bacteria at Montessori of Alameda preschool in Portland, Oregon. Six of the patients are children and one is an adult. All of the cases have occurred in one classroom. Four of the seven patients have lab confirmed E. coli O157:H7 infections. Two of the cases genetically match the E. coli O157:H7 strain from the national, multi-state I. M. Healthy SoyNut Butter outbreak. Three patients have Shiga toxin-producting E. coli infections, but those infections have not been subtype. I.M. Healthy SoyNut Butter E. coli Recalls Expands in Canada

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is expanding the recall of I.M. Healthy SoyNut Butter products for possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination. There are no illnesses linked to this product in Canada, but an E. coli O157:H7 outbreak in the U.S. linked to these products has sickened at least 16 people. The same products are recalled, but additional UPC numbers have been added. All products are in 425 gram containers, and all codes of these products are recalled. New Era Nutrition is recalling SoLo GI brand energy bars in Canada for possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination. The bars were sold nationally and through internet sales. No illnesses have been reported in association with the consumption of these products. The recalled products are all SoLo GI brand. I.M. Healthy SoyNut Butter E. coli Recall Includes Dixie Diner’s Club

The SoyNut Butter Company, which recalled all I.M. Healthy SoyNut Butter and Granola products earlier this week after a multistate E. coli O157:H7 outbreak was linked to their foods, has expanded that recall. Now, Dixie Diner's Club brand Carb Not Beanit Butter is being recalled because it may also be contaminated with the pathogenic bacteria. This product is only available through mail order or internet sales. All Best Buy dates of the Dixie Diner's Club Carb Not Beanit Butter are recalled. I.M. Healthy brand SoyNut Butter Products Recalled in Canada for E. coli O157:H7

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is recalling I.M. Healthy SoyNut Butter and Granola products for possible E.coli O157:H7 contamination. This recall was triggered by a recall and outbreak in the United States. No one has been sickened in Canada so far, but 16 people in the United States have been sickened in a multistate outbreak linked to those products.
