Southwest Ice Cream Specialties is recalling ShurFine® Brand Creamery Select Premium Ice Cream Dulce de Leche because the package may contain Praline Pecan Ice Cream. The Praline Pecan Ice Cream contains wheat, soy, and pecans that are not declared on the label. There have been no consumer complaints or reports of illness associated with the consumption of this product. The ice cream was sold in 1.75 quart (1.66 liter) "scround" containers, with UPC number 015400224840 and Plant Code 48-3202-F. The best by date is NOV 18, 2014. That same product, which is made in Canada, was recalled in Canada last week. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. Haig’s Delicacies Recalls Food for Undeclared Allergens

Haig's Delicacies of California is recalling all Tzatziki, Falafel, Spanakopita and Tyropita because the product labels do not indicate the presence of allergens. The Tzatziki is being recalled because it contains undeclared milk. The Falafel contains undeclared wheat. And the Spanakopita and Tyropita contain undeclared wheat, milk, and eggs. FDA Requests Input on Allergen Threshold Levels

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has established a docket on the Federal Register asking for input on allergen threshold levels. The law requires food and beverage facilities to declare the presence of eight major food allergens on their package labels. They are: eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, soybeans, wheat, milk, fish, and shellfish. The government would like to have clearly defined thresholds to give corporations levels to achieve, plus "defined levels for enforcement." This would help the FDA determine corrective action when foods are contaminated with allergens by mistake, better respond when allergens are found in foods, and evaluate petitions for exemptions from the allergen labeling laws.
