Holiday Inn Salmonella Outbreak in Cumberland County, NC Grows to 44

The Salmonella outbreak associated with the Holiday Inn Bordeaux in Cumberland County, North Carolina has grown from 18 to 44 patients. Thirty-six people in this outbreak live in North Carolina, and eight people are out of state. Five people have been hospitalized. The Health Department and the North Carolina Division of Public Health are asking anyone who ate at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux in Fayetteville since May 1 and became sick to call the county Health Department at 910-433-3638. The symptoms of a Salmonella infection include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The Holiday Inn Bordeaux has two restaurants: the All American Sports Bar and Grill and the Cafe Bordeaux. Firefly Salmonella Outbreak — 200 Patrons of Las Vegas Restaurant Report Salmonella Food Poisoning

The Southern Nevada Health District and lawyers are investigating the Firefly Salmonella outbreak. To date, there are 200 reports of Salmonella food poisoning from people who ate at the Firefly Restaurant on Paradise Road in Las Vegas the week of April 21, 2013, according to the health district. Symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea, and several victims of this outbreak have been hospitalized with more serious complications. Salmonella are bacteria that can cause gastrointestinal illness in humans. Holiday Inn Linked to Salmonella Food Poisoning Outbreak, Investigation of Fayetteville, NC, Hotel Restaurants Continues

The Cumberland County Department of Public Health,the N.C.Division of Public Health, and lawyers are continuing their investigation of the Salmonella outbreak linked to restaurants at the Holiday Inn Fayetteville-Bordeaux. There are 18 individuals with signs and symptoms of a Salmonella infection, including nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Four of them are hospitalized. Salmonella can cause serious complications, including reactive arthritis, colitis, meningitis (Salmonella in the brain), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and sepsis.  Salmonella infections are sometimes fatal. Salmonella Lawsuit: Firefly Outbreak Grows to 200 Sickened

The Salmonella outbreak linked to Firefly on Paradise restaurant in Las Vegas has grown to include at least 200 people, according to the Southern Nevada Health District. Firefly and Dragonfly restaurant were closed on April 26, 2013, after the outbreak was recognized. At least 196 patrons and 4 employees are part of the outbreak. Of those 200 people, 16 have been lab-confirmed and 184 are probable cases. The serotype of the outbreak strain of Salmonella bacteria is "I:4,5,12:i:-". A probable case in this investigation is a person who ate food served by Firefly restaurant from April 21 to 26, 2013 and experienced diarrhea (three or more bouts of diarrhea) and/or at least one bout of vomiting during a seven day period following the restaurant visit. Salmonella Lawyers File Lawsuit Against Firefly Restaurant in Las Vegas

A Pennsylvania woman has filed a lawsuit against the Firefly on Paradise, a Las Vegas restaurant. She is seeking compensation for allegedly contracting Salmonella food poisoning from the restaurant. She is being represented by Fred Pritzker and his team, who are also representing several other people allegedly sickened in the outbreak. The firm's client is one of the 89 people sickened in a Salmonella outbreak associated with the Firefly. She and her husband were visiting Las Vegas in late April. On April 24, they ate dinner at Firefly on Paradise. Two days later, she developed symptoms that included nausea, fever, abdominal cramps and bloody diarrhea. Salmonella Jouni Meats and Gab Halal Ground Beef Outbreak Sickens 22

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released its latest update on the Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak linked to ground beef produced by Jouni Meats, Inc. and Gab Halal Foods of Michigan. The outbreak appears to be over, but 22 people have been sickened. Seven people were hospitalized. There were no deaths in this outbreak. The case count includes these patients: Arizona (1), Iowa (1), Illinois (2), Michigan (9), Pennsylvania (1), and Wisconsin (8). Illness onset dates ranged from December 9, 2012 to February 20, 2013. Patients range in age from 2 years to 87 years, with a median age of 45 years. Fifty-five percent of ill persons were male. CDC Announces Multistate Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Ground Beef

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced the investigation of a Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak linked to ground beef from Jouni Meats in Michigan and Gab Halal Foods in Michigan. So far, 16 people in five states have been sickened with the outbreak strain of the bacteria. The case count by state is: Arizona (1), Illinois (2), Iowa (1), Michigan (9), and Wisconsin (3).  Illness onset dates range from December 9, 2012 to January 7, 2013. The patient age range is from 2 to 87 years, with a median age of 48 years. Among 13 patients who provided information, 7, or 53%, were hospitalized. Raw Tuna Scrape Salmonella Bareilly Outbreak Lawsuit Recap

This last spring and summer, there was a large outbreak of Salmonella Bareilly linked to raw scraped tuna called Nakaochi Scrape imported by Moon Marine USA Corporation. The product was used in sushi sold at restaurants and grocery stores across the country. On April 4, 2012, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced the outbreak, with 93 people sickened in 19 states and the District of Columbia. Two days later, the outbreak grew to include 100 people. The age range was from 4 to 78 years, with 47% of the patients being female, and 10 people hospitalized. The outbreak continued to grow rapidly.
