Thomson International Onions Recalled For Possible Salmonella

Thomson International onions are being recalled for possible Salmonella contamination and a potential link to a multistate Salmonella Newport outbreak that has sickened almost 400 people in the U.S. and more than a hundred in Canada. The recalled onions were shipped from May 1, 2020 through the present. The red, white, sweet, and yellow onions were distributed to wholesalers, restaurants, and retail stores in all 50 states in addition to the District of Columbia and Canada. The brand names on the onions include Thomson  Premium, TLC Thomson International, Tender Loving Care, El Competitor, Hartley’s Best, Onions 52, Majestic, Imperial Fresh, Kroger, Utah Onions, and Food Lion. Thomson International Onions Linked to Salmonella Newport Outbreak

Thomson International Onions, in yellow, red, white, and sweet varieties, are linked to the large multistate Salmonella Newport outbreak, according to a new report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). At least 396 people in 34 states are now ill in this outbreak. Fifty-nine people have been hospitalized because they are so ill.
