Winn-Dixie Recalls Antipasta Salad on Listeria Concern

Winn-Dixie is recalling Taylor Farms Spinach Antipasta Salad from all of its stores for potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.This recall is an expansion of a recall announced earlier by Reser’s Fine Foods, Inc. The recalled item was sold in the full-service case in the deli department.

RecallThe recalled Taylor Farms Spinach Antipasta Salad was sold at stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi between Oct. 19 and Oct. 27. Winn-Dixie has received no reports of any issues associated with consumption of the product.

“Our store directors have removed this product from the deli, and ask that anyone who has purchased this item discard it immediately to ensure our customers will not be exposed to the potentially harmful product,” said Brian Wright, Winn-Dixie’s communications and community vice president. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and invite customers to visit their neighborhood store to receive a full refund.” Customers can present proof of purchase through a receipt or the product-packaging label to receive a refund.

Listeriosis, the infection caused by Listeria, can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions, sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection of the newborn. Young children, seniors and those with weak immune systems are the most susceptible to foodborne illnesses.
