Barakat Restaurant Salmonella Outbreak in Canada Ends With Dozens Sick

A Barakat Restaurant Salmonella outbreak in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada has ended after sickening dozens of people, according to Lambton Public Health. people were sickened after eating at that restaurant and at the Barakat food truck in Corunna, Ontario, between October 19 and October 29, 2020. The restaurant and food truck have been voluntarily closed since October 30, 2020 while public health officials conducted an investigation. A re-inspection will be conducted when the facilities are ready to re-open. The owners have been cooperating with Lambton Public Health. There are currently 45 laboratory-confirmed Salmonella cases associated with this outbreak. Salmonella Outbreak at Al Basha Restaurant in Seattle, WA

A Salmonella outbreak at Al Basha Restaurant in Seattle, Washington has sickened at least three people. One person has been hospitalized. That restaurant is located at 2302 1st Avenue in Seattle. The dates that the ill persons ate there are September 15, 22, and 23, 2019. A specific food or drink that may have caused these illnesses have not been identified. No employees of the restaurant have symptoms consistent with salmonellosis. The three ill persons submitted isolates for testing; all tested positive for Salmonella Enteritidis with the same genetic fingerprint. That means they have a common source of infection. Final Report on Salmonella Outbreak Associated With Elko NV Restaurant

The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services has issued a final report on the Salmonella outbreak associated with "Restaurant A" in Elko, Nevada. The outbreak is associated with eggs served less than well done at that restaurant. Based on the details of this report and previous investigations, we believe Restaurant A is  the Grille at Gold Dust West restaurant in Elko. Eggs were suspected in that outbreak, and according to news reports, 17 people were sickened. The outbreak was first picked up by officials when between Friday, March 8, 2019 and Monday, March 11, 2019 there were 12 positive Salmonella lab reports from "Hospital A" in Elko. A Salmonella outbreak at the Brixx and Barley Restaurant in Long Beach, New York has sickened people. There was no mention of patient numbers, age ranges, or all of the illness onset dates in the statement by the Nassau County Department of Health. We don't know whether or not any patients have been hospitalized. And there is no mention of a possible food source that is being investigated. The Brixx and Barley restaurant has been closed by the Department of health while the investigation is conducted. The restaurant is located at 152 West Park Avenue in Long Beach. Salmonella Outbreak At La Luz Mexican Restaurant in Fort Collins, CO Grows; Lawsuits Possible

The Salmonella outbreak that has been traced to the La Luz Mexican Restaurant in Old Town in Fort Collins, Colorado has grown to include 19 people, according to news reports. That is an increase of 13 patients since the first outbreak notice on August 22, 2018. Officials at the Larimar County Department of Health and Environment are asking anyone who ate at that facility earlier this month and has been sick with the symptoms of Salmonella food poisoning to report it to public health officials. Salmonella Outbreak at La Luz Mexican Restaurant in Colorado

A Salmonella outbreak has been reported at La Luz Mexican Restaurant in Old Town Fort Collins, Colorado, according to the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment. As of August 21, 2018, there are six confirmed cases. More cases have been reported; tests are pending in those illnesses. Some of the confirmed Salmonella cases have been hospitalized, according to the news release. Restaurant owners have been cooperating with the Health Department to try to solve this outbreak. Kitty’s Restaurant Closed After Salmonella Outbreak; Some May Sue

Kitty's Restaurant in North Reading, Massachusetts, has closed after more complaints in a Salmonella outbreak that has sickened 19 people. The restaurant, located at 123 Main Street, has been ordered by the North Reading Health Department to close until further notice. As of Thursday, July 12, 2018, there are 19 confirmed cases of Salmonella. Several of Kitty's restaurant employees are among those sickened. The Health Department started getting complaints about illness on July 3, 2018. The outbreak is believed to have started on June 23, 2018. Officials narrowed down the food to the antipasto salad. Kitty’s Restaurant and Lounge in North Reading, MA Closed After Suspected Salmonella Outbreak; Some May Sue

Kitty's Restaurant and Lounge on Main Street in North Reading, Massachusetts has been closed after an alleged Salmonella outbreak. Omar Cabrera of the Communications Office at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health told Food Poisoning Bulletin that eleven cases are confirmed. Apparently, 39 people have complained to officials that they got sick after eating at that facility. All 11 confirmed cases have exposure to food prepared by that restaurant. According to NBC Boston, the outbreak apparently started on June 23, 2018. The North Reading Department of health has focused on the antipasto as the possible source of pathogenic bacteria. Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Burrito Delight Restaurants in Colorado Grows to 12 Sick

The Salmonella outbreak in Colorado has now grown to 12 people sickened, according to the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment. The press release states that "the source of the outbreak is the Burrito Delight restaurant." This is an increase of two patients since the last update. That restaurant has closed both of its locations in Fort Lupton and Dacono. Public health officials are still investigating the source of the outbreak. Lab testing of employees should be available today, and officials are still looking at possible food sources. Six of those sickened ate food from Burrito Delight at two different catered events at Aims Community College in Greeley, Colorado. Deadly Salmonella Food Poisoning Outbreak at La California Restaurant in Aurora, Colorado in November 2017 Killed One, Sickened at Least 13

KDVR-TV Channel 31 in Denver, Colorado is reporting that a Salmonella outbreak at La California restaurant at 1685 Peoria Street in Aurora, Colorado sickened at least 13 people and killed one person. That outbreak was not reported to the public, and there is still no notice about the illnesses on the Tri County Health Department Website. Government officials confirmed the outbreak to the news channel. Those sickened apparently ate at the restaurant from November 4 to November 26, 2017. Twenty-five of those sickened ate there from November 10 to November 14, 2017. Thirty-three people were allegedly sickened, but 13 illnesses were confirmed as  Salmonella infections.  We don't know if any of these patients were hospitalized.
