Salmonella Paratyphi Outbreak Associated With Raw Tuna Sickens 30

A Salmonella paratyphi outbreak associated with raw tuna or salmon was announced at a Clark County health board meeting in Washington state. During that meeting, on October 26, 2017, Madison Riethman, an applied epidemiology fellow at that department, said that illnesses in at least 30 people in 7 states have been confirmed. The information was presented in a slide show. On August 29, 2017, five cases of Salmonella were reported to Clark County Public Health's Communicable Disease team. Three of five cases were interviewed that week, but no common exposures were found. Then, on September 8, lab tests on the Salmonella bacteria from all five cases came back with the same DNA fingerprint. Queseria Bendita Listeria Outbreak was Shop’s Second in 5 Years

Yakima's Queseria Bendita "Blessed Cheesemaker'' shop made Latin-style Queso Fresco, Panela, Requeson, Cotija fresh soft cheese products and sour cream that were sold on-site and in about 100 Hispanic grocery stores and other outlets in Washington and Oregon. Every one of those products was recalled last month after the Washington State Department of Health and two federal agencies associated the shop's cheeses with an outbreak that included one Listeria death. Two other people also were confirmed as case patients in the outbreak, which happened weeks before the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention could determine what food had caused such horrible illnesses. Listeria in Queseria Bendita Cheese Sickens 3, Kills 1 in Washington

Listeria in Queseria Bendita cheese has sickened three people in Washington, killing one of them. A recall has been issued for the cheese made at the company's plant in Yakima, Washington. Consumers who have purchased this cheese should not eat it as they risk serious, life-threatening illness if they do. Washington State health and agriculture officials are working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on an ongoing investigation of the outbreak. Queseria Bendita has suspended production of cheese. The recalled products are:  Queso Fresco, Panela, Requeson, Cotija fresh soft cheese products and Sour Cream.
