The USDA has issued a public health alert for P&S Ravioli Company 12 Jumbo Meat Ravioli for possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination. A recall was not issued because the product is no longer available for sale. The USDA is concerned that some product may be in consumers' freezers. So, check your freezer to see if you have this product. The recalled item is a frozen, raw ground beef ravioli that was produced on April 30, 2020. It is 13-ounce boxes containing "P&S Ravioli Company 12 Jumbo Meat Ravioli" with a use-by date of 11/30/2020 and lot code 20121. CFIA Cancels License of Ryding-Regency Meat Packers
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has cancelled the Safe Food for Canadians license of Ryding-Regency Meat Packers LTD that are loaded in Toronto, Ontario, effective December 2, 2019. The license of this facility was suspended on September 17, 2019. This happened because "of the opinion that a risk of injury to human health may result if the licence holder continues to conduct an activity that is identified in their licence. It was determined as part of a food safety investigation that the licence holder had failed to implement effective control measures." Bonduelle romaine salads are being recalled in Canada for possible E. coli O157:H7. There is one illness associated with these products in Manitoba, but technically no "outbreak" because that requires at least two sick. A huge recall of beef in Canada has been going on since September 30, 2019. All in all, there have been 19 separate recalls and recall updates issued since that date so far. No illnesses have been reported in connection with these recalls. This recall has reached into the U.S. as well, with the USDA issuing a public safety alert. The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service is issuing a public health alert for imported raw non-intact ground beef products (made with ground beef) for possible E. coli O157:H7. There is a huge beef and veal recall in Canada for products contaminated with that pathogen. Canada is the recalling authority, but FSIS is "amplifying the recall." These products were produce and exported by Ryding-Regency Meat Packers in Canada.
