There have not been any direct consumer reports of confirmed illnesses related to this product. The recall is for Wild Harvest Organic All-Purpose Flour, Unbleached. the package UPC number is 711535509158 and the best if used by date is AA BEST IF USED BY 010820 CC 15:58. These numbers can be found on top of the product label. This recall only affects this one code date of the flour currently in stores or in consumers' pantries. Hodgson Mill flour recalled for possible E. coli contamination. Hodgson Mill of Effingham, Illinois is voluntarily recalling specific lots of its Unbleached All Purpose White Wheat Flour sold in 5 pound bags. The potential presence of pathogenic E. coli was found when sampling raw uncooked flour. No reports of illness associated with the consumption of this product have been received to date. ADM Milling E. coli O26 Flour Outbreak Ends With 21 Sick

The E. coli O26 flour outbreak that was linked to recalled Aldi Baker's Corner, Pillsbury bread, and King Arthur flour has ended with 21 people in 9 states sick, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Three people were hospitalized. There were no deaths. The case count by state is: California (1), Connecticut (1), Massachusetts (2), Missouri (1), New Jersey (1), New York (7), Ohio (5), Pennsylvania (2), and Rhode Island (1). Illness onset dates ranged from 7 to 86 years. Of 20 people who provided information to investigators, 3 were hospitalized. Two Good Reasons to Avoid Raw Cookie Dough: Salmonella and E. coli

Most everyone, by now, knows that food safety experts say you should avoid raw cookie dough or cake batter, because of the possibility of food poisoning. The two culprits in those foods are raw flour and raw eggs. Studies have shown that both of those ingredients can and have been contaminated with pathogens. Flour can be contaminated with E. coli and Salmonella bacteria  (an E. coli outbreak that is happening right now is linked to flour) and raw eggs can be contaminated with Salmonella. Food Poisoning Outbreaks Linked to Flour: Study Shows Raw Wheat Can Be Contaminated

In the wake of the latest E. coli outbreak linked to raw flour, a study published in the Journal of Food Protection has found that a small percentage of raw wheat can be contaminated with Salmonella, EHEC (Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli), and Listeria bacteria. The scientists conducted a baseline study from 2012 to 2014 to determine the prevalence and levels of pathogens in wheat samples taken before milling. The study authors took 5,176 samples and tested for those pathogens. Isolates were fingerprinted using pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). They found Salmonella in 1.23% of samples, EHECs in 0.44% of samples, and Listeria species in 0.08% of samples. The FDA has updated its investigation of the ADM Milling flour E. coli O26 outbreak with more information about another product recall. On June 13, 2019, King Arthur Flour, a customer of ADM Milling, recalled five pound bags of unbleached all-purpose flour with these lot codes and best by dates: 12/07/19 LOT: L18A07C; 12/08/19  LOTS: L18A08A, L18A08B; and 12/14/19  LOTS: L18A14A, L18A14B, L18A14C.   This recall does not include products sold through the King Arthur website, Baker's Catalogue, or the Baker's Store in Norwich, Vermont. King Arthur Flour Recalls Unbleached Flour For E. coli Contamination

King Arthur Flour is recalling 14,218 cases of unbleached all purpose flour solids 5 pound bags because it may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria. The maker of the flour is ADM Milling Company. ADM Milling produced the Aldi Baker's Corner all purpose flour that is linked to an E. coli O26 outbreak that has sickened at least 17 people in 8 states. Some of the wheat used to make these lots of King Arthur flour have been linked to the ongoing outbreak. But the FDA recall notice states that "no illnesses have been reported to date in connection with King Arthur flour." ADM Milling is expanding its recall of Aldi Baker's Corner Flour for possible E. coli. O26 contamination to include all five pound bags. All five pound bags of this flour currently in distribution are now recalled. The earlier recall was for two specific lots of the flour with a single UPC number. This flour is linked to an E. coli O26 outbreak that has sickened at least 17 people in eight states. The recall notice states, "The food source of the E.coli strain for all cases remains under investigation, but out of an abundance of caution, ADM is expanding its previous recall notice." ALDI Bakers Corner Flour E. coli O26 Outbreak Sickens 17

The ALDI Bakers Corner Flour E. coli O26 outbreak has sickened 17 people in 8 states, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Three of those patients have been hospitalized because they are so sick. The notice did not state whether or not any patients have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a type of kidney failure that is a complication of this type of infection. The Rhode Island Department of Health collected and analyzed an unopened sample of this flour and found that the flour contained E. coli O26. A public warning was issued to the public on May 22, 2019. The investigation is ongoing, but DNA analysis found that the E. coli in the unopened sample of flour was closely related to the isolates from ill persons.
