Restaurants Sold Recalled Cucumbers with Salmonella

Some restaurants around the country may have sold imported Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce cucumbers that have been recalled in connection with a multistate Salmonella outbreak. In Minnesota, at least 10 people were exposed to cucumbers sold at five Red Lobster restaurants. The cucumbers were most likely used in salads served at the restaurants. Andrew & Williamson may have sold these cucumbers to other restaurants and companies too. Where Were Cucumbers Contaminated with Salmonella Sold?

Where were the recalled Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce cucumbers that may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria sold? These cucumbers are linked to an outbreak that has sickened at least 341 people in 30 states. The recalled cucumbers have all been removed from stores but had been sold at some locations of the following stores: Walmart, Savemart, Food 4 Less , Winco and Ralphs. Other stores also may have sold them The cucumbers were sold to consumers from August 1, 2015 through September 3, 2015. All cucumbers sold under the "Limited Edition" label by that company during that time period have been recalled. Fifty-one Sick, One Dead in California Cucumber Salmonella Outbreak

The California Department of Public Health has reported that a Salmonella Poona outbreak in that state has sickened 51 people. One person has died. Those people live in 17 California counties. Illnesses are still being reported. It can take 2 to 4 weeks from the time someone becomes sick with food poisoning and the time the illness is reported to public health officials. Epidemiological evidence indicates that cucumbers imported from Baja Mexico by Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce of San Diego, California are the source of this outbreak. They were grown and packed by Rancho Don Juanito in Mexico. The San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency collected Salmonella bacteria from the Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce facility. Arizona Children Hit Hard in Cucumber Salmonella Outbreak

The Salmonella Poona outbreak linked to cucumbers imported from Mexico has sickened 66 people in Arizona; 75%, or 49, are children age 17 or younger. (The CDC has the Arizona case count at 60.) About 35% of cases in that state have been hospitalized. Arizona is one of 27 states that are part of this huge outbreak, which has sickened 285 people in 27 states. The hospitalization rate in this outbreak is high. Overall, nineteen percent of those sickened have been hospitalized because of their illness; and one person has died. We don't know if this high hospitalization rate is because the Salmonella bacteria are antibiotic-resistant, or because many of those sickened are children, who typically suffer more complications with food poisoning. Salmonella in Cucumbers Sickens 285, 1 Dead

A Salmonella outbreak linked to imported cucumbers has sickened 285 people in 27 states. Fifty three people have been hospitalized, one person in California died. A recall has been issued for the cucumbers, grown in Baja, Mexico and supplied by Andrew and Williamson Fresh Produce of San Diego, California. Those sickened ate cucumbers purchased from grocery stores and in meals ordered from restaurants. Grocery stores doing business with Andrew and Williamson include Fresh and Easy, Costco, Walmart, Kroger, Safeway, HEB, Albertsons, United, Sam's Club, and Save Mart.
