FDA Releases Final Report on Tailor Cut Salmonella Fruit Mix Outbreak

The FDA has released its final report on the Tailor Cut Salmonella Fruit Mix outbreak that sickened at least 165 people in 14 states. The outbreak is linked to fruit mix sold by Tailor Cut Produce of North Brunswick, New Jersey. The mix contained cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, and red grapes. This outbreak is over as of February 18, 2020. It was caused by Salmonella Javiana. The case count by state is: California (1) Colorado (1), Connecticut (1), Delaware (49), Florida (1), Georgia (1), Illinois (1), Massachusetts (1), Minnesota (1), New Jersey (50), New York (7), Pennsylvania (49), Virginia (1), and Washington (1). Tailor Cut Fruit Salmonella Javiana Outbreak Ends With 165 Sick

The Tailor Cut fruit Salmonella Javiana outbreak has ended with 165 people sick in 14 states. Seventy-three people were hospitalized because they were so sick. Still, the Centers for Disease control and Prevention (CDC) says that consumers must handle fruit safely to prevent foodborne illness. The case count by state is: California (1) Colorado (1), Connecticut (1), Delaware (49), Florida (1), Georgia (1), Illinois (1), Massachusetts (1), Minnesota (1), New Jersey (50), New York (7), Pennsylvania (49), Virginia (1), and Washington (1). The Salmonella Tailor Cut precut melon outbreak is still going on, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. At least 96 people in 11 states are sick, as of the last update almost a month ago. Twenty-seven people have been hospitalized because they are so sick, and some recalls have been issued. Tailor Cut Fruit Mix Salmonella Javiana Outbreak Sickens 96

The Tailor Cut fruit mix Salmonella Javiana outbreak has now sickened at least 96 people in 11 states, hospitalizing 27, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Since the last official update on December 11, 2019, 85 more ill persons have been added to the list. At that time, the case count was 11, even though Pennsylvania officials said that 33 people who were in four healthcare facilities were sickened in their state. And on December 21, 2019, the state of Delaware released information that 26 schoolchildren living in New Castle County were sick after eating Tailor Cut produce. Delaware Children Sickened in Tailor Cut Salmonella Javiana Outbreak

Delaware children sickened in Tailor Cut Salmonella Javiana outbreak. The Delaware Division of Public Health has confirmed that 26 schoolchildren in Delaware are ill after eating fruit provided by Tailor Cut Produce. The sick children live in New Castle County, and attended schools served by the Red Clay Consolidated School District, Colonial School District, and the Community Education Building in downtown Wilmington. DPH was not able to confirm school information for seven of these children, except that they live in New Castle County. Minnesota Resident Sickened in Possible Tailor Cut Produce Salmonella Outbreak

A Minnesota resident sickened in a possible Tailor Cut Produce Salmonella Javiana outbreak joins at least 10 other ill people who live in Pennsylvania, according to an outbreak update from the FDA. The person from Minnesota apparently got sick in New York, one of the states that received the recalled Tailor Cut Produce along with facilities in Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Epidemiologic and traceback evidence indicates that the fruit mix from Tailor Cut Product of North Brunswick, New Jersey is a potential source of this outbreak. Tailor Cut Produce Recalls Cut Fruit Mix for Salmonella Contamination

Tailor Cut Produce of New Jersey is recalling its Fruit Luau, cut honeydew, cut cantaloupe, and cut pineapple products because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. The recall notice states, "The potential for contamination was noted after several patients fell ill in four hospitals in Pennsylvania." That Salmonella Javiana outbreak has sickened at least 31 people in southeast Pennsylvania. Production of the Tailor Cut Produce products are suspended while the FDA and the company continue their investigation into the problem. People who were sickened in this outbreak allegedly ate Tailor Cut Produce Fruit Mix, which is made with cantaloupe, honeydew melon, pineapple, and grapes.
