A Tacos El Guero food truck outbreak in Kirkland, Washington has sickened at least 34 people, according to the Seattle King County Health Department. Officials do not yet know the exact food or drink that caused these illnesses. The outbreak is associated with a private event that was catered by a Tacos El Guero food truck on September 14, 2023. No patients were hospitalized. The 34 patients developed one or more symptoms that are consistent with a bacterial toxin infection, including abdominal cramps, nausea, and diarrhea. Barakat Restaurant Salmonella Outbreak in Canada Ends With Dozens Sick
A Barakat Restaurant Salmonella outbreak in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada has ended after sickening dozens of people, according to Lambton Public Health. people were sickened after eating at that restaurant and at the Barakat food truck in Corunna, Ontario, between October 19 and October 29, 2020. The restaurant and food truck have been voluntarily closed since October 30, 2020 while public health officials conducted an investigation. A re-inspection will be conducted when the facilities are ready to re-open. The owners have been cooperating with Lambton Public Health. There are currently 45 laboratory-confirmed Salmonella cases associated with this outbreak. Chicken & Rice Guys E. coli Outbreak: CA County Launches Food Truck Safety Campaign
An E. coli outbreak that may involve Chicken & Rice Guys food trucks in Boston, Massachusetts in April 2017 sickened at least 14 people. Those sickened ate either at the Chicken & Rice Guys restaurants or at one of the five food trucks the company operates in the Boston area. According to the last report about this outbreak, ten of the 14 sickened were hospitalized because they were so sick. Now, across the country in Kern County, CA, Kern County Public Health Services is launching a new food safety awareness campaign that focuses on mobile food vendors.
