Garden of Life Salmonella Outbreak Spreads to 15 States, 18 Sick

The Salmonella outbreak linked to Garden of Life shake and meal replacement mixes has spread to 15 states and sickened 18 people, according to an update from the the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That's an increase of six states and seven illnesses since the last update on February 1. Four people have been hospitalized. On January 29, Garden of Life recalled some Garden of Life Raw Meal shake and meal replacement mixes after illnesses were reported, then expanded the product recall on February 12. Garden of Life Makes Changes to Raw Meal after Salmonella Outbreak

After a Salmonella outbreak linked to Garden of Life Raw Meal shake and meal replacement mixes sickened 11 people, hospitalizing one of them, the company has made changes to the product. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers the outbreak, which includes Illnesses reported from nine states, ongoing. On January 29, Garden of Life recalled some raw meal products after illnesses were reported, then expanded the product recall on February 12. On its Facebook page, the company attributed the source of the problem to contaminated Organic Moringa Leaf powder obtained from a third party that supplies the powder for recalled products only. Garden of Life Salmonella Ingredient Identified

Garden of Life has announced they have isolated the ingredient in their RAW Meal Organic Shake and Meal Replacement Products that was potentially contaminated with Salmonella. Those products are linked to a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Virchow that has sickened at least eleven people. One person has been hospitalized. The ingredient is Organic Moringa Leaf Powder from a third party supplier. This ingredient was only used in RAW Meal products. Other Garden of Life products use Moringa Leaf Powder obtained from other suppliers. Garden of Life Shakes Recalled for Salmonella Sold at Kroger Stores

Garden of Life Shakes, recalled for Salmonella, were sold at Kroger Stores. Consumers who have purchased these meal replacement and shake mixes should not eat them as Salmonella can cause serious illness. The recalled products have been linked to a Salmonella outbreak in nine states. eleven people have been sickened.  Illnesses reported from each state are as follows: Minnesota (2), New Jersey (2), New Mexico (1), Ohio (1), Oklahoma (1), Oregon (1), Tennessee (1), Utah (1), and Wisconsin (1). Garden of Life Expands Salmonella Recall of Shake Mix

Garden of Life is expanding its January 29th voluntary recall to include additional lots of its Raw Meal Organic Shake & Meal Chocolate, Original, Vanilla and Vanilla Chai products. An ingredient used to make them may have been contaminated with Salmonella. To see a full list, click the preceding link. Consumers who have purchased these products should not use them. The recalled products have been linked to a Salmonella outbreak that has sickened 11 people in nine states. The recalled products can be returned for a refund. How Were Garden of Life RAW Products Contaminated?

A Salmonella Virchow outbreak linked to Garden of Life RAW Organic Meal shakes and meal replacement products has sickened at least 11 people in 9 states. This product is used by bodybuilders and as a probiotic supplement. Meal replacements are also used by people who are having gastrointestinal problems, by those who are sensitive to milk and whey, and as a "detox." So how does a product like this become contaminated with Salmonella bacteria? The company has released a statement saying that all of its products tested negative for bacteria before they were shipped. Unfortunately, there is no way to test every single teaspoon or milliliter of this or any product. CDC Investigates RAW Meal Organic Shake Salmonella Outbreak

The CDC is investigating the multistate outbreak of Salmonella Virchow linked to RAW Meal Organic Shake and Meal Replacement Products. Evidence available suggests that those products, manufactured by Garden of Life LLC of Florida, are the likely source of this outbreak. At least 11 people in 9 states are sickened in this outbreak, and one person has been hospitalized as of February 1, 2016. No deaths have been reported. Of 10 people interviewed, 100% reported consuming powdered supplements or meal replacement powders the week before they got sick, and all specifically reported consuming Garden of Life RAW Meal products. 7 State Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Garden of Life Shake Mixes

Garden of Life meal replacement shake mixes have been identified as the source of a seven-state Salmonella Virchow outbreak, according to the Minnesota Department of Health Announced yesterday. At least eight people have been sickened. Because many cases of Salmonella infection are not reported, the number is likely to be much higher. Minnesota health officials said they wanted to "bring this outbreak to the attention of people who have become ill with symptoms of salmonellosis but who have not yet consulted a health care provider. These people should mention this outbreak to their health care provider should they consult one."
