Certain Lots of Special Kitty Cat Food Recalled For Health Concerns

The J.M. Smucker Company is recalling specific lots of Special Kitty Cat food for "health concerns potentially associated with ingredients believed to not meet the Company’s quality and safety standards." The recall notice states that "Ingesting impacted product may cause nausea with excessive salivation, diarrhea or vomiting to more severe symptoms including difficulty walking, seizures and, in extreme situations, death." The specific problem with the cat food is not stated. And there is no mention of whether or not any pets have been affected by the problems with this product. Quest Beef Cat Food Recalled For Possible Salmonella

Go Raw, LLC is recalling its 2 pound frozen bags of Quest Beef Cat Food for possible Salmonella contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue. The Quest Beef Cat Food is sold in 2 pound bags, and has the UPC number UPC 6-91730-17101-8 with lot number N128. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture took a sample of the product and tested it for Salmonella; it tested positive. The firm conducted its own test and it was negative. But, Salmonella may not be evenly distributed throughout the cat food, which is typical, which explains the discrepancy. FDA Tells Pet Owners To Avoid Performance Dog Raw Pet Food

The FDA has released an alert telling consumers to avoid Performance Dog Raw Pet Food because it may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. A sample tested positive for both pathogens. The samples were collected during an inspection of Bravo Packing, the manufacturer of the dog food, which is located in Carneys Point, New Jersey. One of the products was not entered into commerce, but one was. That recalled product is Performance Dog raw pet food lot code 072219, which was sold to customers frozen in two-pound pouches. FDA Warns Against Aunt Jeni’s Home Made Frozen Raw Pet Food

The FDA has issued a warning for pet owners to not feed them certain lots of Aunt Jeni's Home Made Frozen Raw Pet Food because it may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. Two sample of finished product collected during an inspection of Aunt Jeni's Home Made tested positive for Salmonella and/or Listeria. The products that tested positive are: Aunt Jeni’s Home Made, Turkey Dinner Dog Food, sold in 5 pound (2.3kg) packages, with lot number 175199 JUL2020; and Aunt Jeni’s Home Made, Chicken Dinner Dog Food, sold in 5 pound (2.3kg) packages, with lot number 1152013 JUL2020. Berkley & Jensen Pig Ears Recalled For Possible Salmonella

Chef Toby is expanding its recall of pig ears for possible Salmonella contamination to include another brand: Berkley & Jensen pig ears. The recall notice does not state that no illnesses are linked to this product, but does state that "The U.S. Food and Drug Administration ("FDA"), together with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ("CDC") and State partners, is investigating a link between pig ear pet treats and human cases of salmonellosis. Brutus & Barnaby of Clearwater, Florida is recalling all sizes of Pig Ears for Dogs because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. There is no mention whether or not any illnesses have been linked to this product. But there is a Salmonella outbreak linked to pig ears that has been declared by the CDC. At least 127 people have been sickened by these types of products as of the last update at the end of July 2019. FDA Cautions Pet Owners To Avoid Texas Tripe Raw Pet Food

The FDA is cautioning pet owners to avoid feeding their pets Texas Tripe raw pet food because it may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The company issued a recall of some of these products a week ago, but the recall only mentioned Listeria monocytogenes as a contaminant, not Salmonella. Texas Tripe has recalled 35 lots for each of its 23 product varieties. The FDA is issuing an alert because thee lots "represent a serious threat to human and animal health," according to the notice. These products are sold and stored frozen, and the government is concerned that some may be in consumers' home freezers. CDC Updates Pig Ear Dog Treat Salmonella Outbreak; 127 Sick

The multistate pig ear dog treat Salmonella outbreak has now sickened at least 127 people in 33 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Twenty-six people have been hospitalized because they are so sick. No deaths have been reported to date. Since the last update on July 17, 2019, 34 more ill persons have been added to the outbreak total. Twenty-four of these patients are children under the age of 5. The CDC and FDA are now telling people not to buy or feed any pig ear dog treats to pets, including any that you may already have in your home. People can get sick after touching the treats, or after caring for or touching dogs who ate the snack.
