New Romaine E. coli Outbreak Over As It’s Announced

A new romaine E. coli outbreak is over as soon as it's announced on the FDA's CORE Investigation Outbreak Table. Four people are sickened. The investigation into the outbreak, however, is still considered active. We do not know where the ill persons live, the patient age range, or if anyone has been hospitalized or has developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure. The FDA's statement reads, "The outbreak of four illnesses of E. coli O121:H19 (reference# 1050) has been linked to romaine lettuce. The information collected over the course of this investigation indicated that romaine lettuce was the likely source of this outbreak; however, it appears that this outbreak is over, and there is no actionable advice for consumers. More Salmonella Onions Recalled in Canada For Possible Contamination

More onions are being recalled in Canada for possible Salmonella contamination. This recall was triggered by the huge Salmonella Oranienburg outbreakĀ linked to onions in the United States that has sickened more than 800 people in 37 states. No illnesses are reported in Canada in connection with these recalled items. The onions were imported from Mexico by ProSource Produce and Keeler Family Farms. The recalled items include Dorsey yellow onions, sold in 10 pound mesh sacks with UPC number 0 33383 60004 8. All products sold between July 7, 2021 and October 28, 2021 are recalled. Now 808 Sick in the Onion Salmonella Outbreak; 157 Hospitalized

There are now 808 sick in the onion Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak, with 157 hospitalized, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The patients live in 37 states and Puerto Rico. This is an increase of 156 new patients and 28 new hospitalizations since the last update one week ago.
