K2D Foods Recalls Ground Beef For E. coli O103 Contamination; No “Definitive” Link to Outbreak

K2D Foods, doing business as Colorado Premium Foods of Carrolton, Georgia, is recalling 113,424 pounds of raw ground beef products for possible E. coli O103 contamination. There is an unsolved ongoing E. coli O103 outbreak that is linked to ground beef, but the recall notice states, "Further testing is ongoing to determine if the recalled ground beef products are related to the E. coli O103 outbreak." These items were produced on March 26, March 29, April 2, April 5, April 10, and April 12, 2019. The recalled product is two 24-pound vacuum-packed packages in cardboard boxes containing raw "GROUND BEEF PUCK." JBS Ground Beef Associated with Salmonella Outbreak; Lawsuits Possible

JBS Tolleson of Tolleson, Arizona is recalling about 6,500,966 pounds of raw, non-intact beef products (ground beef) because these products are associated with a Salmonella Newport outbreak. This outbreak has sickened at least 57 people in 16 states. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not issued any outbreak notice yet for this JBS ground beef outbreak. The outbreak notice was contained within the recall notice. Some of these products were sold at Walmart. FSIS was notified of an investigation of Salmonella Newport illnesses. Those people reported consumption of several different USDA related products. A store receipt, potentially linking the purchase to a patient was received on September 19, 2018. USDA FSIS Breaks Down 16 Years of Salmonella in 123-Page Report

Of the meat and poultry inspected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, Salmonella most commonly appears in chicken, ground beef and turkey. In that order. And Salmonella Kentucky is the most common strain of Salmonella. These are among the many findings in a 123-page report the agency compiled examining 16 years of Salmonella data. The report, entitled Serotypes Profile of Salmonella Isolates from Meat and Poultry Products January 1998 through December 2014, was published on the agency's website Friday. Sam Kane Beef Processors of Corpus Christi, Texas has issued a recall for 60,350 pounds of Hill Country Fare ground beef products that may be contaminated with metal pieces.  Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them. Ground Beef Recalled for Possible E. coli O157:H7 Contamination

All American Meats of Nebraska is recalling 167,427 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. This is a dangerous bacteria that can cause serious illness and death. No confirmed reports of illness have been received to date. Western Meat Recalls 15 Months of Ground Beef for E.coli

Western Meat Co. of Tucson is recalling ground beef sold between January 1, 2014 and April 30, 2015 due to a possible E. coli 0157:H7 health risk. The recall affects 5 and 10 pound packages only. No illnesses had been reported at the time of the recall, but customers who have these products in their freezers should not use them as E. coli O157:H7 can cause severe illness. Bi-Lo Market Recalls Ground Beef

Bi-Lo Supermarket of Rossville, Ga. is recalling ground beef that may be contaminated with pieces from a small plastic pop-up timer. The ground beef item was produced April 23, 2015. The recalled products were sold in 1-2 lb. packages marked  “Bi-Lo Market Style Ground Beef" with the "sell by" date of 4/25/15. These items were sold in Georgia and Tennessee. At the time of the recall, there were no reports of adverse reactions or oral injury associated with consumption of these products. Cargill Recalls Meadowland Farms Ground Beef That May Contain Blue String

Cargill Meat Solutions of Wyalusing, Pa. is recalling approximately 8,294 pounds of ground beef product that may be contaminated with blue string.  The ground beef patties were produced on April 6, 2015 and shipped to warehouse locations in Connecticut and Maryland. The recalled products were packaged in 5.3-lb. trays containing sixteen pieces of “85% Lean 15% Fat MEADOWLAND FARMS Ground Beef 1/3 LB. PATTIES,” with a use or freeze by date of April 18, 2015. They have the establishment number “EST. 9400” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The problem was discovered during a cleaning process when a cotton/poly blend blue string was found in one of the machines. E. coli Illnesses in MA Investigated by State, Federal Authorities

Health officials in Massachusetts are working with federal authorities to investigate the source of three cases of E. coli poisoning that occurred in June.  Results from lab tests last week showed a link between the cases, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. Little is known about the three patients who were diagnosed in June with E. coli O157:H7 infections. Health authorities are not releasing information such as the age, gender, or county of residence of any of the cases patients. Nor have they disclosed if any of those who were sickened required hospitalization. Symptoms of and E. coli infection include diarrhea that can be bloody and abdominal cramping. E. coli Illnesses Prompt Whole Foods Ground Beef Recall in Massachusetts

Three E.coli illnesses in Massachusetts have prompted a recall of ground beef products sold at Whole Foods stores in South Weymouth and Newton, Massachusetts. Three people who ate ground beef purchased from these stores developed E. coli O157:H7 infections between June 13 and June 25. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service is working with the Massachusetts Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on an investigation of the illnesses. A recall has been issued for 368 pounds of ground beef products produced in June and sold at the stores.
