Hy-Vee Spring Pasta Salad Linked to Salmonella Sandiego Outbreak; 20 in MN, SD, NE, MO, and IA Sick; Some May Sue

Hy-Vee is recalling its Spring Pasta Salad because it may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. Twenty-one people in Minnesota, Missouri, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa are sick and are linked to this recalled product. Five people have been hospitalized. The recall includes Hy-Vee Spring Pasta Salads in both 1 pound and 3 pound containers. The salads were produced between June 1, 2018 and July 13, 2018, and are available from the deli service case in those stores. The expiration date range is from June 22, 2018 to August 3, 2018. The pasta salad was distributed to all of Hy-Vee's 244 grocery stores in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Lawsuits are being filed as the deadly E. coli O157:H7 HUS outbreak linked to romaine lettuce has now sickened 172 people in 32 states. Fareway Chicken Salad Salmonella Typhimurium Outbreak Cases Increase to 170 Sick

The Fareway chicken salad Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak has more than doubled, according to a new update from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Now another 105 people in 6 states are sick. That means that at least 170 people are sick in this outbreak as of March 6, 2018. The update says that the newly ill persons likely bought the contaminated Fareway chicken salad before it was recalled. The most recent illness began on February 18, 2018. Two more states have been added to the outbreak: Indiana, with one ill person, and South Dakota, with two ill persons. CDC Starts Investigating Salmonella Typhimurium Outbreak Linked to Triple T/Fareway Chicken Salad

The Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak linked to Triple T/Fareway chicken salad is now being investigated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The government is recommending that people do not eat recalled chicken salad sold at Fareway grocery stores in the Midwest. While the Iowa Department of Health is reporting much higher numbers (37 confirmed and 78 probable cases as of February 20, 2018), the CDC says that 65 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Typhimurium have been reported from five states. Twenty-eight people have been hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported. The case count by state is: Illinois (4), Iowa (55), Minnesota (2), Nebraska (3), and Texas (1). Two People in South Dakota, One in Nebraska, and One in Minnesota Sickened in Fareway Chicken Salad Salmonella Outbreak

The large Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak linked to Fareway chicken salad has sickened more than 100 people in Iowa. But there are also ill persons in other states. That chicken salad, made by Triple T Specialty Meats, has now been recalled. One person in Nebraska has been sickened, according to Leah Bucco-White, Public Information Officer of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. That person was hospitalized  because their illness was so serious. The Iowa Department of Public Health just published information about case counts in the Fareway chicken salad Salmonella outbreak. As of noon Friday, February 16, 2016, there are 28 confirmed cases and 66 probable cases os Salmonella Typhimurium in Iowa. According to some news reports, one person in Martin county in Minnesota is also sick. The confirmed case definition is "Persons with Salmonella Typhimurium (confirmed or visual match to Pattern JPXX01.0275) with illness onset since January 1, 2018 reporting consumption of chicken salad from Fareway (any store) in the 7 days prior to illness onset." NE Salmonella Outbreak Associated with Red Door Coffee in West Point

A Salmonella outbreak that may be associated with Red Door Coffee in West Point, Nebraska has sickened at least 20 people, according to the Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department. To date, there are 20 confirmed and 8 probable cases. The local health department is working with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services on the investigation. Local health departments and state officials are conducting interviews with patients. The press release states that "so far, all confirmed cases have one common factor which is dining at Red Door Coffee in West Point.
