Secondary Recalls of Bedner Cucumbers For Salmonella

Secondary recalls of Bedner cucumbers for possible Salmonella contamination have begun. The FDA updated its outbreak notice today with this information. There is a new Salmonella outbreak linked to Bedner cucumbers that has sickened at least 26 people in 15 states. This recall is because Salmonella was found in the Bedner facility. Nine people have been hospitalized because they are so sick. The case count by state is: Alabama (1), California (1), Colorado (1), Florida (3), Illinois (4), Kansas (1), Kentucky (1), Michigan (1), North Carolina (3), New York (1), Ohio (4), Pennsylvania (2), South Carolina (1), Tennessee (1), and Virginia (1). NC Harris Teeter AFC Sushi Linked to Food Poisoning Outbreak in Concord

North Carolina Harris Teeter AFC sushi is linked to a food poisoning outbreak, according to a press release issued by the Cabarrus Health Alliance (CHA) in Concord, North Carolina. The Harris Teeter stores in question are located at 358 George W. Liles Parkway Northwest in Concord, and 1245 Concord Parkway North, also in Concord, North Carolina. When the press release was first issued four days ago, there were "more than 10 individuals" who were sick. But according to news reports, now as many as 128 people may be ill. Those 128 people belong to 85 households. Harris Teeter is using their loyalty card program to notify 429 households that they purchased that during during the timeframe in question. Listeria Recall for Vegetables Sold at Walmart, Winn Dixie, QuickTrip and More

A Listeria recall has been issued for fresh-cut vegetables sold at Walmart, Winn Dixie, QuickTrip, Spinx, Freshpoint, Bi-lo, Harris Teeter and Publix. Consumers who have recently purchased fresh-cut vegetables from these stores should check recall information carefully. At the time of the recall, no illnesses had been reported, however, products covered by the recall should not be consumed as Listeria can cause serious illness or death. Country Fresh of Conroe, Texas, issued the recall of  30,000 cases of various vegetable products after being notified that tests conducted by the Georgia Department of Agriculture as part of a routine sampling program were positive for Listeria.
