Outbreak at Jamestown, New York McDonald’s Sickens 22; Lawsuits May Be Filed

An outbreak of undetermined nature is associated with the Jamestown New York  McDonald's restaurant at 2803 North Main Street Extension, according to the Chautauqua County Health Department. That establishment is located in Chautauqua County. At least 22 people are sick with symptoms of nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. The statement says that the illnesses are "potentially associated" with that restaurant. Christine Schuyler, County Public Health Director, said in a statement, "e are working diligently with the State Health Department and McDonald’s representatives to conduct a thorough epidemiological investigation into these illnesses. There is currently no identified source of these illnesses and there is no evidence that the illness can be spread from person to person." McDonald’s Fresh Express Salad Mix Cyclospora Outbreak Grows Again; Lawsuits Are Filed

The McDonald's Fresh Express Salad cyclospora outbreak has grown again, according to the FDA. As of August 23, 2018, 507 laboratory-confirmed cases of cyclosporiasis were reported in people who ate salads served at McDonald's restaurants. Those sickened live in 15 states and New York City. The case count by state is: Connecticut (1), Florida (1), Iowa (99), Illinois (273), Indiana (9), Kentucky (8), Michigan (2), Minnesota (11), Missouri (52), Nebraska (5), New York City (1), Ohio (15), South Dakota (18), Tennessee (1), Virginia (1), and Wisconsin (1). The McDonald's Fresh Express cyclospora outbreak linked to their salads has now sickened 476 people, according to the FDA. These ill persons live in 15 states. Twenty-one people have been hospitalized. The last reported illness started on July 20, 2018.   The case count by state is: Connecticut (1), Florida (1), Iowa (95), Illinois (219), Indiana (1), Kentucky (8), Michigan (2), Minnesota (9), Missouri (52), Nebraska (5), Ohio (15), South Dakota (14), Tennessee (1), Virginia (1), and Wisconsin (10). Congresswoman DeLauro Wants Answers About Fresh Express/McDonald’s Cyclospora Outbreak

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) sent a letter to FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb asking for information about the investigation of the cyclospora outbreak that is linked to Fresh Express salads and McDonald's. In that cyclospora outbreak, almost 400 Americans are sick, and 16 people have been hospitalized. That outbreak was first announced July 13, 2018, after the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Illinois Department of Public Health reported an increase in cyclosporiasis cases among people who at salads sold at McDonald's. Sixty-one people in seven states were announced as part of this outbreak. The outbreak has grown over the month of July to include 395 people in 15 states. FDA Confirms Cyclospora in Fresh Express Salads Sold to McDonald’s; Lawsuits Filed

The FDA has confirmed the presence of cyclospora in a salad mix produced by Fresh Express and sold to McDonald's. McDonald's salads are a possible source of a cyclospora outbreak that has sickened at least 286 people in 15 states and has hospitalized 11. The number of illnesses has not been updated in this most recent update. The analysis was completed in July 26, 2018 using a "new laboratory method." The FDA set up a multidisciplinary workgroup in 2015 to privatize the development, validation, and implementation of a method for detecting cyclospora in fresh produce. The Fresh Express salad mixes in question, containing romaine lettuce and carrots, expired on July 19, 2018. The romaine lettuce was not packaged for retail sale to consumers. McDonald’s Cyclospora Lawsuits Increase As Outbreak Grows

The cyclospora outbreak that is linked to McDonald's salads keeps on growing. Now at least 286 people in 15 states are sick. Eleven people have been hospitalized; no deaths have been reported. That is an increase of 123 more patients in the last week. McDonald's cyclospora lawsuits have been and will continue to be filed on behalf people who are sick through no fault of their own. Attorneys File First Iowa McDonald’s Cyclospora Lawsuit in Multistate Outbreak

Attorneys at the law firm of Pritzker Hageman have filed the first Iowa McDonald's cyclospora lawsuit on behalf of a client who was sickened after he ate at one of the fast food chain's restaurants at 1220 Jeffreys Drive in Osceola, Iowa in late June, 2018. The law firm has also filed a complaint on behalf of a woman in Illinois who was sickened in the same outbreak. There is a large ongoing multistate cyclospora outbreak linked to McDonald's salads. The McDonald's cyclospora lawsuit was filed in Iowa on July 18, 2018 in the Iowa District Court in Clarke County. The FDA, CDC, and state officials are working with McDonald's to figure out which component of the salads was contaminated with the microscopic parasite. McDonald’s Cyclospora Outbreak Grows to 163 Sick; Lawsuits Are Filed

The McDonald's cyclospora outbreak that is linked to that chain's salads has grown to include 163 sick, according to the FDA. That is an increase of more than 100 patients in the last five days. Those sickened live in 10 states, an increase of three states since July 15, 2018. Three people have been hospitalized. All of these cases are lab-confirmed. The FDA is working with McDonald's to try to identify the common ingredient in the salad that is potentially contaminated. Patients report eating a variety of McDonald's salads before they got sick.
