Golden Medal Enoki Mushrooms are being recalled in Canada for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination, according to a Canadian Food Inspection Agency recall notice. These mushrooms were sold in British Columbia at the retail level and may have been sold in other provinces and territories. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this item. The recalling firm is Longsheng (Canada) Agricultural Products Ltd. The recalled product is Golden Medal Enoki Mushrooms (Chinese characters only) that are packaged in 200 gram containers. Deadly Fresh Express Listeria Monocytogenes Outbreak Ends With 10 Sick

The deadly Fresh Express Listeria monocytogenes outbreak has ended with 10 people sick in eight states. One person, who lived in Pennsylvania, died. Fresh Express recalled its packaged salads that were produced in its Streamwood, Illinois facility on December 20, 2021. The case count has remained unchanged since the last update on December 22, 2021. The patient case count by state is: Illinois (1), Massachusetts (1), Michigan (1), New Jersey (2), New York (1), Ohio (1), Pennsylvania (2), and Virginia (1). Illness onset dates range from July 26, 2016 through October 19, 2021. The patient age range is from 44 to 95 years. All 10 people were hospitalized. DeLauro Wants an Investigation into FDA Handling of Infant Formula Recall

Rep. DeLauro wants an investigation into the FDA handling of infant formula monitoring and recalls, more specifically the Abbott Nutrition powdered infant formula recall associated with at least four Cronobacter illnesses. Rosa Delauro (D-CT) is the chair of the House Appropriations Committee. A letter was sent to the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services, asking for her assistance in this investigation. Expanded Similac Recall For Cronobacter Complaints Posted

The expanded Similac recall for Cronobacter complaints has been posted on the FDA recall page. At least four infants have been diagnosed with Cronobacter infections after consuming Similac, EleCare, or Alimentum powdered infant formula with specific lot numbers and expiration dates that were produced at Abbott Nutrition's Sturgis, Michigan plant. Two of those infants who lived in Ohio died, although the FDA is investigating to see if Cronobacter contributed to those deaths. The expanded Similac recall for Cronobacter complaints is for Similac PM 60/40 with lot number 27032K80 for the can and 27032K800 for the case. Starbucks Doubleshot Espresso cans are being recalled because a defective seal could lead to premature spoilage. About 86,000 cases of this product are being recalled. The recall was listed on the Pepsico website and on the FDA's access data web site. This recall was voluntary and initiated by the firm. Similac PM 60/40 Infant Formula Recalled For Possible Cronobacter

One lot of Similac PM 60/40 Infant Formula (Lot number 27032K80 for the individual cans and Lot number 27032K800 for the case) has been voluntarily recalled by Abbott Nutrition after the company was informed of the death of an infant who allegedly consumed this product. The formula was manufactured in the company's Sturgis, Michigan plant. That baby tested positive for Cronobacter sakazakii. The case is under investigation since the cause of the infant's Cronobacter infection has not been determined. This product was not included in the original formula recall. No distributed product has tested positive for the presence of Cronobacter sakazakii, according to Abbott. Another Infant Death Added to Similac Cronobacter Illnesses Case Count

Another infant death has been added to the Similac Cronobacter linked outbreak case count, bringing the total number of babies sickened from Cronobacter to four, with two deaths. An additional infant was reported to the FDA as being sickened with a Salmonella Newport infection, marking five total cases identified so far in this investigation. FDA reporting indicates that with this latest baby, an infant in Ohio, "Cronobacter infection may have been a contributing cause of death for this patient." The case count is now Minnesota (1), Ohio (2) and Texas (2). The original case count was one sick in Minnesota, one sick in Ohio (that infant died), and two sick in Texas. Lovevery Drinking Cups with Handle Recalled For Choking Hazard

Lovevery Drinking Cups are being recalled because the handle can detach from the steel cup. This poses a choking hazard for young children. The company has received 70 reports of the handle of the drinking cup becoming partly or completely detached, including two incidents where a child had the cup handle in their mouth. No choking injuries have been reported to date in connection with this issue. The recalling firm is Lovevery Inc. of Boise, Idaho. The recall is for a stainless steel drinking cup that is included in Lovevery's Inspector Play Kits that are intended for children age seven to eight months. More Golden Medal Enoki Mushrooms in 7.05 ounce and 5.25 ounce packages are being recalled for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Distribution has been suspended. This is an expansion of an earlier recall issued on February 4, 2022. The original recall was just for the larger packages of the mushrooms. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of this product. The recalling firm is Golden Medal Mushrooms Inc. of Los Angeles, California.
