New states added to the outbreak count are Michigan, Mississippi, and West Virginia. Illness onset dates range from August 5, 2018 to November 9, 2018. The hospitalization rate in this outbreak, which is 33%, is higher than the typical hospitalization rate for a Salmonella outbreak, which is 20%. Jennie-O Turkey Store of Wisconsin is recalling about 91,388 pounds or raw ground turkey products that may be associated with an outbreak of Salmonella Reading infections. At least 164 people in 35 states are ill in this outbreak. One person in California died. The raw ground turkey products were made on September 11, 2018. The states of Arizona and Colorado are hit the hardest in the JBS Tolleson ground beef Salmonella Newport outbreak. There are at least 57 people sick in that outbreak. Arizona has 15 sick, while Colorado has 12 sick. Almost seven million pounds of ground beef has been recalled in this outbreak. JBS Tolleson is located in Tolleson, Arizona. The ground beef products, which range from beefburgers to ground beef, all have the establishment number "EST. 267" inside the USDA mark of inspection.Epidemiologic and traceback information indicates that ground beef produced by JBS TOlleson is a likely source of this outbreak. The multistate E. coli O157:H7 HUS outbreak linked to romaine lettuce has now grown to include 84 sick in 19 states. Thirty-one more people from 10 states have been added since the last update a week ago. Three more states have reported ill persons: Colorado, Georgia, and South Dakota. The most recent illness started on April 12, 2018. This outbreak will likely grow, since it takes a few weeks from the time a person begins feeling sick, to when the infection is diagnosed and reported to government officials. As of April 20, 2018, there are officially 53 people sick in the E. coli O157:H7 HUS outbreak that is linked to romaine lettuce from the Yuma, Arizona growing region, according to the CDC. But how many people are really sick in this multistate outbreak? According to news reports and state health departments, the outbreak total could be 66. On Friday, April 20, 2018, the Alaska Department of Health & Social Services issued a press release stating that eight confirmed cases of E. coli O157:H7 infections have been identified at the Anvil Mountain Correctional Center. A deadly fourth Salmonella outbreak linked to imported Maradol papayas has been reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In this outbreak, linked to Salmonella Anatum infections, 14 people in 3 states are sick. Five people have been hospitalized. One person in California has died. Three other outbreaks are also linked to imported Maradol papayas. In those outbreaks, 215 people have been sickened. The case count by state is: Arizona (1), California (12), and Colorado (1). Deadly Utah-Arizona E. coli Outbreak Linked to Animals
The deadly E. coli outbreak in Hildale, Utah and Colorado City, Arizona has been linked to infected animals, followed by person-to-person contact, according to the Southwest Utah Public Health Department. Several livestock have tested positive for the outbreak strain of E. coli. The owners of the animals have been contacted and given guidance to prevent further spread of this outback. All tests on water systems, springs, ground beef, produce, and dairy products conducted by public health officials were negative.
