Salmonella Contaminated Precut Melons Sold at Target, Kroger, Walmart, Trader Joes, Amazon/Whole Foods

The Salmonella Carrau outbreak linked to precut melons produced by Caito Foods has sickened at least 93 people. The Salmonella contaminated precut melons were sold at Kroger, Target, Trader Joes, Amazon/Whole Foods, Walmart stores, and independent grocery stores in several states under several different brand names. Caito Foods recalled precut melons in many different combinations and iterations on April 12, 2019, the day the outbreak was announced by the FDA and CDC. These products were sold in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Caito Foods Fresh Cut Melons Linked to Salmonella Outbreak in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, and MIssouri

The FDA has released information about the multistate Salmonella Adelaide outbreak that is linked to precut melons. Fresh cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, and fresh-cut fruit medley products that contain any of these melons that were produced at the Caito Foods facility in Indianapolis, Indiana are being recalled as a result of this outbreak. Those products were distributed from the Caito Foods facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio.. Salmonella Recall for Trader Joe’s Kale & Edamame Salad

Trader Joe’s Kale & Edamame Salad is under recall for possible Salmonella.  Consumers who have purchased this salas should not eat it as Salmonella can cause serious illness. The recalled product, produced by WCD Kitchen, LLC of Fontana, California was sold only in the Midwest. It has the UPC 00967112 with “USE BY" dates of May 05, 2016 through May 14, 2016. The states where these salads were sold include: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin. Trader Joe’s Recalls Cinnamon Almonds for Undeclared Peanut

Trader Joe’s  is recalling all lots Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Almonds sold in 16 0z packages because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts should not eat this product as they run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they do. The recalled products were distributed nationwide in Trader Joe’s retail stores. They were packaged in clear plastic with the UPC # 00761437 on the back of the package. The recall was initiated after peanuts were discovered in packages of Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Almonds. The problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the supplier’s production and packaging processes. Middle East Bakery in Massachusetts is recalling bread products with Joseph's and Trader Joe's brand names because they may contain undeclared soy, one of the major food allergens. Anyone with an allergy to soy could have a serious allergic reaction if they consume these products. No illnesses have been reported to date. E. coli O157:H7 Outbreak Linked to Trader Joe Glass Onion Salads 2013

In 2013, an E. coli 0157:H7 outbreak linked to Trader Joe's Glass Onion ready-to-eat salads sickened 33 people in 4 states. Two patients developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) as a result of their infections. HUS is a type of kidney failure. E. coli bacteria are found in the intestinal tracts of mammals, particularly cattle. So how did this bacteria get into prepared salads? A recent study from the Food Standards Agency in the UK may provide some answers, even though the federal investigation did not pinpoint the ingredient that was contaminated in this outbreak or the method of contamination. Salads Ready-Made for Trader Joe’s Caused 2013 E. coli Outbreak

In October and November 2013, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) collaborated with public health officials in California, Washington and Arizona to trace an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 to two kinds of pre-packaged, ready-to-eat salads made for Trader Joe's grocery stores by Glass Onion Catering. The agencies continued their laboratory surveillance of the outbreak, uncovering 33 confirmed illnesses, including 28 E. coli case patients in the state of California. The molecular pattern of the outbreak strain of E. coli O157:H7 had never been seen before in the United States, the CDC said. If You Bought Fruit Recalled for Listeria, Here’s What to Do

We have received quite a few responses to the story about the recall of fruit from Sam's Club, Costco, and Trader Joe's stores for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. It's difficult to hear about this story, especially if you have already consumed the fruit and fed it to your family. Here's what to do. First, make sure you actually bought the recalled fruit. The FDA has published the Wawona Packing List that contains all of the fruit with lot and BlockID numbers. You can also see all the pictures of the packaging and crates with the UPC numbers and product sizes at the FDA web site. Hummus, Dips Sold at Target, Trader Joe’s Recalled for Listeria

A number of dips are being recalled for possible contamination. Lansal, d.b.a. Hot Mama's Foods is recalling about 14,860 pounds of hummus and dip products because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been reported, but the symptoms of listeriosis, the illness caused by the Listeria bacteria, can take months to manifest. Trader Joe’s Caesar Salads Recalled For Undeclared Allergens

Caesar salads sold at Trader Joe's  are being recalled for undeclared wheat, soy, egg and fish. The salads, made by H Group, Inc. of Framingham, MA, were sold in the refrigerated sections of stores in DE, MD, NJ, NY, VA, PA and Washington DC under the brand name Trader Giotto's Caesar Salad with Caesar Dressing. People with allergies to those ingredients should not eat the salads as they run the risk of serious or  life-threatening reaction if they do. At the time of the recall, issued voluntarily by H Group, no illnesses had been reported. The company is recalling 509 units of the salad with SKU 05161 and the following date codes: "Sell By 04/6/14, 04/7/14 and 04/8/14."
