Nine Multistate Salmonella Outbreaks in 2021 Sickened More Than 1,200

Nine multistate Salmonella outbreaks in 2021 sickened more than 1,200 Americans and hospitalized 250, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The only Salmonella outbreak that has continued into 2022 is the Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak linked to fresh onions imported from Mexico. All of these outbreaks were linked to a specific product, and all were associated with at least one recall or public health alert. Fratelli Beretta Antipasto Salmonella Outbreak is Number 3 of 2021

The Fratelli Beretta antipasto Salmonella outbreak is the number three multistate food poisoning outbreak of 2021. There were two types of Salmonella in this outbreak: Infantis and Typhimurium. Forty people in 17 states were sickened, and 12 people were hospitalized. Twenty-six people were sickened with Salmonella Typhimurium, and 14 were sickened with Salmonella Infantis. The patient case count by state was: Arizona (5), California (8), Colorado (1), Illinois (5), Indiana (1), Maryland (1), Michigan (2), Minnesota (2), Nevada (1), New York (1), Ohio (3), Oregon (2), Texas (3), Utah (1), Virginia (1), Washington (2), and Wisconsin (1). The Fratelli Beretta Antipasto Salmonella outbreak has ended with 40 people sick in 17 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Twelve people were hospitalized because they were so sick. There were two types of Salmonella in this outbreak: Salmonella Typhimurium and Salmonella Infantis. The case count by state is: Arizona (5), California (8), Colorado (1), Illinois (5), Indiana (1), Maryland (1), Michigan (2), Minnesota (2), Nevada (1), New York (1), Ohio (3), Oregon (2), Texas (3), Utah (1), Virginia (1), Washington (2), and Wisconsin (1). CDC: Avoid Fratelli Beretta Uncured Antipasto Trays With Best By 2/11/22

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated the Salmonella outbreak linked to Italian-style meats. Their new recommendation is that consumers should avoid all Fratelli Beretta Uncured Antipasto Trays with the best by dates of 2/11/22 (February 11, 2022) and before, rather than just the one product that has been recalled. The one currently recalled product is Fratelli Beretta Uncured Antipasto prosciutto, soppressata, Milano salami, and coppa in 24 ounce vacuum sealed trays. Each tray contains two 12-ounce packages with "best by" dates on or before February 11, 2022. The UPC number that is stamped on the label is 073541305316. Fratelli Beretta Antipasto Trays Recalled For Possible Salmonella

Fratelli Beretta Antipasto Trays are being recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. About 862,000 pounds of uncured antipasto meat tray products may be contaminated with Salmonella Infantis or Salmonella Typhimurium. This product has been named in a Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least 36 people in 17 states. The ready to eat uncured antipasto meat trays were produced on February 28, 2021 through August 15, 2021. The recalled product is 24-ounce trays containing two 12-ounce packages of Fratelli Beretta Uncured Antipasto Prosciutto, Soppressata, Milano Salami, and Coppa.
