Chetak Salmonella Outbreak Update: More Products Recalled

A Chetak Salmonella outbreak update has been posted by the CDC. The company is recalling more products, including fruits and vegetables. The recall includes Deep brand frozen produce. The case count by state remains the same. It is: Connecticut (1), Florida (1), Illinois (1), Massachusetts (2), Minnesota (1), New Jersey (1), Pennsylvania (1), Tennessee (1), Virginia (1), and Washington (1). The patient age range is from less than 1 to 78 years. Illness onset dates range from October 22, 2024 to June 24, 2026. New Listeria Monocytogenes Outbreak on FDA Core Table

There is a new Listeria monocytogenes outbreak on the FDA Core Outbreak Investigation Table. There are 10 outbreaks on the Table; six of these are unsolved. For the new Listeria outbreak, there are 25 people sick. The FDA has not yet conducted traceback, initiated an inspection, or sampled product. For the first outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis, the case count has increased from 31 to 34. The FDA has initiated traceback and has conducted an inspection. New Cyclospora Outbreak on FDA CORE Investigation Table

There is a new Cyclospora outbreak on the FDA CORE Investigation Table, along with two Listeria monocytogenes outbreaks, a hepatitis A outbreak, an E. coli outbreak, and four Salmonella outbreaks. Of those nine outbreaks, four have been solved. One investigation is over. For the new Cyclospora outbreak, there are 24 people sick. This outbreak is unsolved. The FDA has initiated traceback. For the Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak that is unsolved, there are 18 people sick. The FDA has not initiated traceback, inspected a facility, or collected samples. Chetak Deep Sprouted Mat and Moong Beans are being recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of these items. The recalling firm is Chetak of Edison, New Jersey; Union City, California; Streamwood, Illinois; Kissimmee, Florida; Pico Rivera, California; and Sugarland, Texas. These items were sold at the retail level nationwide.
