Victor Super Premium Dog Food is being recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. Both humans and animals are susceptible to illness when pet food is contaminated. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of this product or contact with animals who have eaten it. The recalling firm is Mid America Pet Food of Mount Pleasant, Texas. The recalled product is Victor Super Premium Dog Food, Hi-Pro Plus that is packaged in 5 pound bags. The lot code for this item is 1000016385, and the best by date is 4/30/2024. The lot code information is printed on the back of the bag. Cultured Mussels From East River Shellfish Recalled For Pathogens

The FDA is warning restaurants and food retailers not to sell cultured mussels from East River Shellfish because they may be contaminated with E. coli and Salmonella bacteria. East River Shellfish is located in Glenfinnan, Prince Edward Island in Canada. The restaurants that received these mussels are located in the states of Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York. The cultured muscles are from the harvest location PE 4-C, and were harvested on August 14, 2023. They were shipped to customers on August 1, 2023, and distributed to retailers in those states mentioned. Inmar Supply Chain Solutions Recalls Pet and Human Food

Inmar Supply Chain Solutions is recalling "numerous brand names" of pet and human food because of poor conditions at the facility. These products were stored in pallets at the company's Arlington, Texas facility between May 1 2022 and June 30, 2023. The company has not received any adverse event reports in connection to this issue. At that time, there may have been a pest control problem at the facility, in the form of rodent infestation. This poses a health risk for many illnesses, including Salmonella. The FDA has issued an advisory about some lots of raw Darwin's Natural Pet Foods for possible Salmonella contamination. People should not feed their pets these foods. The foods were made by Arrow Reliance Inc. FDA sampling from the lots listed below tested positive for Salmonella. The foods in question include Darwin's Natural Pet Products Natural Selections Chicken Recipe with Organic Vegetables for Dogs. The lot number for this product is 9774. We have decided to compile this list of lettuce products that have been recalled for possible deer feces contamination because more and more products are being announced every day, and deer feces can carry dangerous pathogens. Some of these recalls are posted on the FDA's Enforcement Reports page, so most consumers will not see them. The cheese is also subject to a quarantine order announced by California State Veterinarian Dr. Annette Jones. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this cheese. The recalling firm is Raw Farm LLC of Fresno County. Dan-D Pak Raw Macadamias are being recalled in Canada for possible Salmonella contamination. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with the consumption of these nuts. The recalling firm is Dan-D Foods Ltd. The nuts were sold in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia at the retail level. Foodborne Illness is Back to Pre-Pandemic Levels

Foodborne illness is back to pre-pandemic levels for some pathogens, according to research published in the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) for the week of June 30, 2023. The incidences that were higher were infections caused by Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, Yersinia, Vibrio, and cyclopsora. Campylobacter, Salmonella, Shigella, and Listeria illness levels did not change.   In other words, progress in reducing enteric infection levels was not observed in 2022. The report states that collaboration among food growers, processors, retail stores, restaurants, and regulators is needed to reduce pathogen contamination during poultry slaughter and to prevent contamination of leafy greens. A public health alert has been issued by the FDA for Everest and Maggi Spices for possible Salmonella contamination. Amin Trading Agency LLC purchased these spices, which were not labeled for distribution in the United States, at retail stores in India, and imported and distributed them in this country. The notice did not indicate whether or not any illnesses have been reported to date. The recalled products include Everest Garam Masala that is packaged in 100 gram containers.
