Daily Harvest French Lentil + Leek Crumbles illness case count reaches at least 393, with 133 hospitalized, according to the FDA. The last illness onset date was September 4, 2022. People have been sick with gastrointestinal illnesses, and liver, bile duct, and/or gallbladder illnesses. The FDA says that these illnesses are linked to eating that product. Daily Harvest voluntarily recalled their crumbles on June 17, 2022. In response to complaints, the FDA launched an investigation including an inspection of the company's plant and sample collection. The Daily Harvest French Lentil + Leek illness count has increased to 386 in 39 states, with 130 people hospitalized, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That's an increase of 17 more patients since the last update on August 25, 2022. This number is an estimate based on Consumer Complaint and CAERs reports received by the FDA. There are now 369 sick in Daily Harvest French Lentils + Leeks Crumbles outbreak as of August 25, 2022, according to the FDA. The FDA says that 125 people have been hospitalized. The last illness onset date was August 9, 2022. The FDA and CDC are still investigating consumer complaints of gastrointestinal illness and abnormal liver function that "may be attributable" to eating this frozen product. Daily Harvest voluntarily recalled this product on June 17, 2022 in response to complaints. More illnesses have been reported with the Daily Harvest French Lentil + Leek Crumbles issue, according to the FDA. As of July 28, 2022 there have been 329 CAERS reports and Consumer Complaints related to this product, and 113 of those people have been hospitalized. Tara Flour Culprit in Daily Harvest Lentil Crumbles Illnesses

Daily Harvest has identified tara flour as the apparent culprit in the illnesses that may be linked to that company's French Lentil + Leeks Crumbles. The FDA reports that there have been 277 adverse event complaints received so far, and that 96 people have been hospitalized because they are so ill; some have had their gall bladders removed. There have been almost 500 anecdotal reports of illness. The FDA has not commented on this new information as of July 19, 2022. But there is no indication of just what it is about the tara flour that has made people sick. The product is not inherently toxic.
