These products are linked to a Salmonella outbreak that has sickened at least nine people in San Diego County and seven people in Orange County. All fluid raw whole milk and raw heavy cream are included in this recall. The recalling firm is Raw Farm LLC of Fresno, California. The best by dates for these products range from 10/11/2023 to 11/6/2023. They were sold in California. Retriever Mini Chunk Chicken Dry Dog Food is being recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. The dry dog food was sold in these states: Arkansas, Arizona, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah. No human or pet illnesses have been reported to the company to date in connection with this problem. Gills Diced Onions Recalled For Salmonella in Outbreak Investigation

Gills diced onions are being recalled in relation to the FDA's investigation into a possible Salmonella outbreak. The recall notice states, "The FDA notified [the company] that the recalled products were part of the agency’s traceback investigation into an ongoing Salmonella Thompson outbreak." There is a Salmonella Thompson outbreak on the FDA's CORE Outbreak Investigation Table that has sickened at least 72 people. So far, the FDA has not officially named a product for that outbreak. FDA Warns Restaurants About Future Seafoods Raw Oysters

The FDA is warning restaurants not to serve Future Seafoods raw oysters from Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada, because they may be contaminated with Salmonella and generic E. coli bacteria. Restaurants and food retailers in these states may have recently purchased those oysters: Florida, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Does Indiana Cantaloupe Have a Salmonella Problem?

Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) closed without solving its investigation of a Salmonella Newport outbreak that sickened 11 people in August. But information the agency gathered during its probe unearthed a troubling finding. During interviews with patients, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) learned that people who got sick had eaten cantaloupe or watermelon before developing symptoms of Salmonella infections. Tracing the source of the melons back from the point of purchase, the FDA was able to determine that the melons were grown in Southwest Indiana. Three environmental samples collected from farms there matched the outbreak strain of Salmonella Newport. More Darwin's Natural Pet Food has tested positive for Salmonella, according to the FDA. The FDA tested the product again after receiving a consumer complaint. To date, the firm has not recalled any of the affected product lots of the pet food that was manufactured in 2023 despite the FDA recommendation. The FDA is issuing this advisory because these lots of Darwin's Natural Pet Products cat and dog food "pose a significant risk to human and animal health." FDA Releases Food Safety Guidance For Producing Sprouts

The FDA has released its final food safety guidance for producing sprouts. That ingredient has been linked to many outbreaks over the years, including a Salmonella outbreak earlier this year caused by Sun Sprouts alfalfa sprouts that sickened at least 63 people in eight states and hospitalized 10 of those patients. The 2023 Final Guidance updates and finalizes these sections of the original draft guidance that was issued in 2017: Cleaning and Sanitizing, Agricultural Water in Sprout Operations, Seeds for Sprouting, Environmental Monitoring, and Recordkeeping.
