FDA Updates the Salmonella Peach Outbreak With More Recall Information
The FDA has updated the multistate Salmonella peach outbreak with more information about where recalled peaches were sold. As of August 22, 2020, there are 68 people in 9 states who are sick with Salmonella Enteritidis infections that the CDC says is linked to peaches. Consumers, restaurants, and retailers should not eat, sell, or serve recalled peaches packed by or supplied by Prima Wawona or products made with them. If you purchased any of the following recalled products, which include bagged peaches, loose or bulk peaches, and products made with those peaches, do not eat them, even if some have been eaten without anyone getting sick. The Salmonella Newport outbreak linked to red onions has sickened at least 640 people in 43 states and 239 people in Canada. Now there are secondary Salmonella onion recalls for products such as salsa, dips, and stir fry ingredients. We are keeping a running list of the onion recalls; now this list will help you keep track of recalled products made with those onions. Most, if not all, of these products were made with red onions, which are typically used raw because they are sweeter than regular onions. Taylor Farms Products With Onions Recalled For Possible Salmonella
Taylor Farms Texas, of Dallas, Texas, is voluntarily recalling Taylor Farms products with onions because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. There is a multistate Salmonella Newport outbreak in the U.S. that has sickened almost 400 people. But there have been no reports of illness to date associated with these recalled items. These products were distributed in select states from July 30, 2020 to August 1, 2020. They were sold at Kroger and Walmart stores in those states. As of July 22, 2020, there are 641 people sick in 11 states in the Fresh Express bagged salad cyclospora outbreak. That's an increase of 132 more patients since the last update on July 9, 2020. Thirty-seven people have been hospitalized because they are so sick. There is also an outbreak in Canada that has sickened people in three provinces that is also linked to Fresh Express salad products. Fresh Express is recalling some of its Walmart Marketside Iceberg Salads because it may be contaminated with the cyclospora parasite. A cyclospora outbreak linked to bagged salads has sickened at least 206 people in 8 states in the midwest. Fresh Express has been named by the FDA as the manufacturer of salads potentially linked to that outbreak. The recall is for all product codes of Marketside Classic Iceberg Salad that is sold in 12 and 24 ounce size packages. The best if used by dates on the packages are May 19, 2020 to July 4, 2020. They were distributed to select Walmart stores between June 1 and June 21, 2020 in Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. A new product has been added to the list of salads in the outbreak: Walmart's Marketside Classic Iceberg Salad sold in 12 and 24 ounce sizes. The FDA has named Fresh Express as the producer of these salads. And there are now 206 people in 8 states sick in this outbreak. North Dakota has been added to the outbreak list. The case count by state is: Iowa (74), Illinois (57), Kansas (1), Minnesota (25), Missouri (10), Nebraska (20), North Dakota (6), and Wisconsin (13). Did You Buy Unpackaged Produce at Walmart in Andover, MN This Week?
If you purchased fresh, unpackaged produce at the Walmart Supercenter in Andover, Minnesota, at 1851 Bunker Lake Boulevard Northwest on Saturday, between 6:00 am on Sunday, June 23 and 10:30 pm on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, throw it away. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is issuing a consumer advisory in response to a "chemical incident" that occurred at that facility on June 22, 2019 around 5:00 pm. The news release did not state what the chemical was. It only states that if you bought the food, don't eat it and throw it out.Other unpackaged foods for sale at that Walmart store were destroyed following the "incident."
