Last Two FDA CORE Table Updates Have Lots of Changes

The last two FDA CORE Outbreak Investigation Table updates have lots of changes, including a closed investigation that identified mangoes as the source of infection. There are currently five active investigations on the Table; four have been solved. The E. coli O157:H7 outbreak that is linked to Raw Farms raw Cheddar cheese has been added to the table. In this outbreak, at least seven people in three states are sick; most of them children. The case count by state is: California (5), Florida (1), and Texas (1). The patient age range is from 1 to 28 years, with the median age of 3. More than half of the patients are under the age of 5. Illness onset dates range from September 1, 2025 to February 13, 2025. Six Active Investigations on FDA’s CORE Outbreak Table

There are currently five active investigations on the FDA's CORE Outbreak Table; four of them have been solved. Four of the outbreaks are caused by various serotypes of Salmonella bacteria. Two of the outbreaks have ended, but the investigations are ongoing. The first outbreak is a new Salmonella Newport outbreak that has sickened at least 45 people. No food has been identified yet. The FDA has initiated traceback in this outbreak. The second outbreak is the extensively drug-resistant Salmonella Newport outbreak linked to Rosabella Moringa powder capsules. This is a particularly dangerous outbreak because the drug resistance means it can be much more difficult for doctors to treat serious infections. Two New Outbreaks on FDA CORE Investigation Table

There are two new outbreaks on the FDA's CORE Outbreak Investigation Table: A Salmonella Lomalinda outbreak and another Listeria monocytogenes outbreak. There are 11 outbreaks on the table at this time; only four are solved. For the new Salmonella Lomalinda outbreak, there are 30 cases. The FDA has not initiated traceback, inspected a facility, or tested samples. For the new Listeria monocytogenes outbreak, there are 8 cases. FDA Updates CORE Table With New Salmonella Outbreak

The FDA updates CORE Table with a new Salmonella outbreak. There are nine outbreaks currently on the Table; six are Salmonella outbreaks, two are Cyclospora outbreaks, and one is a Listeria monocytogenes outbreak. The new outbreak is caused by Salmonella Enteritidis. There are 31 people sick in this outbreak. The FDA has not initiated traceback, inspected a facility, or sampled any foods. The second Salmonella outbreak is a Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak that has sickened at least five people. The FDA has initiated traceback in this investigation.
